Great info in this thread - I had no idea about that fill port and it will make AT oil change so much easier.
I ordered a DN 7.2 coupler from a firm in Germany (ESSKA Machines in Hamburg - wish I'd known when I was over in the city last week!). I just ordered one with a female threaded end for the hose barb - though the quick couple end is different from the dimensions used in UK, the threads use the "British Standard Pipe" or BSP fitting, so I could use whichever size is suitable for the hose and the threaded barbs are easily found here.
I'm doing it this way as it is nice to do it "properly", but couldn't you simply clamp a hose of the correct size to the male quick couple connector under that cover?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot...
I wish this thread came out in 2001 when my family bought the car. I have been adding fluid to that reservoir and getting burned because of the muffler while the car is running. Now I hear about this?!

And yes: I guess it would be possible to clamp a hose of the correct size to the male quick couple connector, however it might still spill I think given the shape of that connector. For a few $/£/€ and doing it the proper way: no spilling at all.
