Took a few days off as I found other parts i need before I can put anything back together. I am almost done with the font cleanup and have installed my new Poken tensioner. I mounted the pulley wrong the first time...then of course realized it after mounting to the car. I knew something was not right....took it back off...really looked it over...then figured out what I did wrong. I hope to have it back together within the next two weeks. Once I get it running, I will make it my daily driver for a month in order to work out out all of the issues of sitting for 5 years. More to come...

Did not want to let this thread die. No pictures but here is the update. The motor is back together and I drove it to work today for the first time in 5 years. The car is running very good. Got a little bearing noise in either the bell housing or torque tube. I found a fix for it....turn up the radio.

I am starting to find a body shop that is willing to take her on. I am taking it to one that is certified with Audi on aluminum body work....since I have a bent front fender.

I will post a few pictures soon. Plan to tear out the interior before I send it to the paint shop in order to send it off for repair. The bills are coming in...but each time I drive it...I am reminded how much I miss the car. Its not the same type of ride as my 996....but it was not designed to be!

Look for more updates.

I had someone tell me today....the car looks great. I told him its like the girl you see across the bar when you had a few. She looks really good. You walk up to talk to her.....then you realize that you need several more and she needs a few teeth. Nothing like one that looks good 20 feet way....then scares you off when you get right up on it.

sorry late to your party, your doing a great job bringing back this machine to top condition!
I was going to suggest to remove the metal collars in the fill tube and the washer bottle ,
since you were replacing the Y connector in the RF fender,
this will keep rusty washer fluid from getting on your paintwork,
and staining the paint, and clogging the squirters.

Oh i love how any work on these cars sucks you in deeper and deeper, "well now that 'x' is removed, i can do 'ABC'... but if i'm doing 'ABC' i might as well tackle 'DEF', while i'm in there i can also upgrade to the new blah blah blah"

I would deffinitely get new pumps... because they're probably full of rust and/or the housings are brittle and cracking. If you have heated washer jets, might as well test to see if those still work (just a resistor element in there, if no continuity, they don't work).

Ron to get your girls out to the garage try taking some pictures of them infront of the 928 ,
and then post those to the refrigerator.
Then you can casually ask them if they will assist you bleeding the brakes or fetching some wrenches, will take time

Well...its been about three months since my last post. Wanted to give an update. Me and my son got the new Porken tensioner on and the top refresh complete. I decided to drive it for a couple of months to be sure I had the motor running smooth before I moved on to other drive train items. Last week, my accelerator pedal started to stick on removal of my foot...kept the car at about 2K rpms. I could tap the peddle to free it. Traced it down to the throttle body. Had to take the intake tubes back off to get to the throttle body. Took the springs apart and cleaned them and adjusted the plate in the throttle body....which now appears not to hang up now. While I had it tore down I tested the Idle stabilizer Valve....to find it would stick on one side....and my throttle position switch did not register full throttle. New ones on the way....plus new plug wires, shocks for all four corners, and motor mounts.

Interior will start to be removed and shipped to Robert Bud for recovering. Local shop for the shock install and brake fluid flush. Hope to have it to the paint shop within the month. New front Spoiler and door seals ordered and on the way.

Will not get done before SITM....I guess I will have to wait until next year. Oh yea.....I bought a 996 and kept it about three months...and traded it for a 997.

Will post pictures of the 928 progress as we get going again!!!

Wanted to post an update:

Just got my car out of the shop last week. Took it to have things done that I did not want to attempt to tackle. The car is running smother and better than it has since I owned it.

New Shocks all the way around
New Porsche Original motor mounts
Rebuilt steering rack
Rebuilt upper ball joints
New tie rods
Fixed AC
Bleed brake system

Just got the Dash, Pod, Door Panels, Console, rear console, and rear seats out headed to Robert Bud to be recovered. Car headed to paint shop this week. Will be working on odometer gear and LED light upgrade on instrument cluster while in the shop.

This restore is costing an arm and a leg....actually could have bought two 928's when I am done....but it will be extremely nice and it was my first P car....so it has a special place in the ole heart. Some of you will understand and some will not.

It is one of three P cars in my current collection and will be one of the nicest....for its age anyway.

As you have all the interior un assembled it would be a good time to check all your AC actuators for proper operation or just change the bladders pre-emptively.
