Update:
Car is at the paint shop....been there for two weeks. Stopped in today to get drop off some parts and they have not started on it yet. Plan to start next week. I am going to stop by and take pictures every few days of the progress.
My interior is now sitting at the Classic 9 Leather Shop!!!! Having the dash, pod, console, door handles, and rear console wrapped in vinyl that matches my original vinyl. Having the Seats and Steering Wheel done in leather. Also ordered the Silverknit carpet kit. Got new console switches and just got my shipment from Roger to replace all of the vacuum pods on the AC units while the dash is out of the car. I also plan to lay down sound padding before I lay the carpet in order to make the cabin quieter. Oh...also plan to order the Shark Woofer and front door replacement speakers from Hans.
Will start shopping for wheels next.
I am going to have so much money wrapped up in the car...but I am so excited to get it finished. I even have the wife and daughter excited about being able to drive it....since my other two Porsche's are sticks.
I will post some pictures soon of the gutted inside of the car as well as some before shots of the outside.

My younger son (11yo) is into aircraft but also like the cars and luvs my Porsche 928. We will shortly be giving it a 200,000km service together.

Jeff,
I can't think of too many things better than that which keeps one at home and involved with one's family. Sniff.
The good bonding stuff goes without saying; however, of equal value is that these projects place kids on the path to self-reliance. Additionally, the prospect of a career in the trades looms large thanks to these sorts of things. As part of my nightly routine of reading to my kids I like to slip in a page or two from the trades-celebrating book ShopClass as SoulCraft or some words of wisdom from The Millionaire Nextdoor. Next up, Porsche: The Origin of the Species. :-)

Well....time for an update. Getting close. Stopped by the shop today and actually seen some progress. Delivery date back to me is Friday 8/23. I have received my new Silverknit carpet kit from Robert Budd. Will being to start recovering items each day until car arrives. Got my audio system purchased and almost all delivered. Went with Hans speakers and his recommended head unit and 5 channel AMP due to deliver this week. My interior is almost done and should be back on the way to Charlotte next week. My goal is to be done by the Frenzy on 9/28 in VA. Got tons to do between now and then...

Time for an update. Car still not painted. Should be delivered to me on Friday, 13th....go figure. Interior has been coming in shipments over the past two weeks. Received everything but seats and steering wheel. Stuff looks really good. Have tons to do and did not realize it would take me 9 months and ~20K to do it.

Harvey,
Gary at Matthews Township Collision is doing the work. Its taken some time since I had damage on a front fender, deleted the side moldings, and removed the undercoating on the lower part of the car. He tells me it will be show ready...so I am excited.
Anatolyl,
I am going back to the factory color of Garnet Red exterior with Burgundy Leather seats and everything else wrapped in Vinyl.
