Default No power steering to the right, left turns ok

My 89 car had power steering for left turns, but right turns are a killer. I flushed out the fluid and put fresh ATF but no change. This a rack failure or pump problem? Anyone able to fix this without complete replacement of rack & re-alligment?

The spool valve in the rack isn't working properly or one of the teflon seals on the spool valve is bad.

Replace or rebuild.

I don't know how old the rack is. I have only owned the car for the past 3 years. Before that, who knows what went on.

Failed spring in rack spool valve.
Is that fixable or do I have to pull and swap the entire rack?

It is fixable if you have a mechanic with spare spool valve parts and the know how to redo the rack.
