Default Need More Traction

Ok Got taunted the other day by a toyota mr2... So i let him have it ... but almost lost due to traction issues... i don't think my car has limited slip or posi... as i get on it real hard only one wheel spins causing serious loss of traction. Is there a way to look up to see if my care was sold with a standard rear end? as far as i know nothing has been altered from factory.

I have a 93 euro s2 as a parts car for some things is there a way to find out if it has limited slip or posi in it with out taking things apart yo look?

Providing neither car has limited or posi would it be worth the money to put one in???? Are such things available for the 928?

By the way once i got off the gas to regain traction and found second gear i was pulling ahead by a car length!!! That will teach em not to mess with the sharks !!

Look in the rear hatch compartment, under the carpet, to the right - there should be a label with all the option codes for the car. LSD is 220.

Check the Mcodes on the build sticker (above gas tank). 220 = 40% LSD

You almost certianly don't have one on the one you described, certainly possible to add one - but lots of work. May be just as easy to swap the whole transmission

I'm not sure what gear ratio your running but I'm guessing 2.72, like mine. With that ratio, stock width tires, no LS, and less than perfect road conditions, short of adding a LS and running a wider tires I'm not sure if there's anything you can do easily, mechanically, to add traction. I have the same problem even with LS & running 295's. So, like others have noted, you can add a LS, but I would try running a wider tire and learning how to launch the car limiting wheel spin first. However, if the road is cold or even damp you're going to have the same problem.

Yes, better tires. Run some sticky summer only tires in 285 width.

Street Racing...... NO no no no no.... Save it for the track........ Yes wider tires and launching slower then hammer down when you already have traction.....

If all you want to do is drag race MR2's then buy a Camaro and be done with it.

I usually just give those guys the smug look of "I'm in a Porsche and you are in a Toyota" and drive away unbothered by the peasant class as I head home knowing my chocolates are riding in air conditioned comfort in the glove box.

I love that... "head for home knowing my chocolates are riding in air conditioned comfort..."

You can drag race a 928, but thats not what its made for... Next time get the Toyota, Mazda, whatever to follow you to a Hwy on-ramp and watch as they fade in the rear view mirror while you reach 100 mph & are still accelerating...
