If the trans does not touch the crossmember, it won't make a difference.
I would look at the TT bearings and dampener.
And of course change the motor mount if you not already did.
Is the pressure on the flex plate have been checked?

Thanks. good to know.
Not even close to touching the crossmember.
Really just interested for the information and a potential diagnoses tool

Not necessarily true, speaking from theory, not experience.

If the mount is completely collapsed so the red and yellow in Deans photo touch, increased vibration transmissions could exist even if the trans does not touch the cross member.

I haven't looked at the price in a year or so. What is stupid expensive for them these days?

Stop panicing. If there is demand, just like all the other aftermarket parts for the 928, then someone will make it. By the look of things, Mark is already working on a possible rebuild and mayne other are too ( lured by the high price of the OE).

Can a 78 mount be modified to fit? Can't tell from the PET picture what the difference is, but they're less than a 100 bucks. Kinda weird.

Would the trans mounts issue have any effect on wheel hop ?

The 928 is more prone to wheel hop due to the weissach axle.....

Perhaps looseness lack of dampning at the trans axle.....MIGHT allow a windup unload of torque at the wheel ....just a thought
