I was reading the articles in the new issue of Playboy, and they had a little run down on hot cars, with the top pick whatever a 911 is called these days with a sticker price of $82k. 3086 lbs 350 hp at 7400 rpm, 0-60 4.6s, seems very close to what I see as a target for a 928 Euro Hybrid.
What I got from the article was here are the hot cars, some more HP, some less and smaller, and this is the sweet spot. The car you want to drive most of the time, and 30 years later the core hasn't changed much.
Keep on dreaming. You aren't going to get a 4.6 to 60 out of a Euro hybrid.
I tend to agree, shifting from 1st to 2nd takes too much time in the 928, but anybody I catch once I'm rolling in 2nd will be more interesting, and 2-3 shift is faster straight down.
OTOH there is a fair chance a Euro hybrid 928 5 spd may be a more fun car to drive than a new 911 Carrera.
BTW that is focus Imo, we are talking Playboy magazine, and your keep on dreaming reference is to 0-60 time.
