I drove about 175 miles today with both detectors on. They seemed to do a little better, or maybe I just found more cops. I didn't have any trouble picking up Ka, but the 8500 had better range. I picked up a state cop at 1.9 miles, but 1.7 for the V8. Several times I picked up random x with nothing around, fields and/or woods on either side.

very nice, if you want, the v1 has a great resale value, instead of sending it for a tune, unless it dosent need any hardware upgrades, sell it on craigslist or ebay. you should be able to sell it for atleast 350. dosent matter how old it is, they sell very fast. after you sell it, call v1 and ask for a "R" unit. you can get them for about 365 shipped. the r units are units that were sent out for the 30 day testdrive, and returned, refurbished and sent with all accessories. they look and work as new and have full warranty. i love my v1, does not have the detection range of my redline, but is very close, my redline dosent pick up I/O as well as my v1. where each decetor lacks, the other picks up. ive had 13 mile detection on my redline, open flat desert, which is nice, but you tend to forget about the alert once you mute it. i will be installing an sti-r+ at some point. the 8500 x50 is a great detector, the m4 platform of the 8500 is great. but if you or anyone has any questions please feel free to ask, and if you are looking for a decent deal on a detector let me know, i can usually put you in contact with somene who can sell under MAP.

+1 for Passport ZR3 or ZR4 paired with an escort 9500, sweet setup....never let me down and always enough time to respond and lift.

good luck!

Be careful with the ZR3 or zr4, They have great detection but they lack the jamming power Of Blinder and laser interceptor. They are fine jamming old guns, But have some trouble with newer guns and higher pulse rate guns. They also do not jam the laser ally which may be in your area.
