Ken - The closest looking, based on texture and simplicity in design, are the edge trims at the bottom of the page in the link ET1537 and ET57, with the latter being the closest.

Thanks for taking the time Ed.., those two were how I might have imagined the Porsche seals to look, a pretty generic seal, with no elaborate shape.., as used to cover raw edge sheet metal and in the 928,s case an edge to cover a bare lip, and also to encourage water to flow down to the front of the car rather than inside the fender/engine compartment ?..,

Thanks again

Took the existing seal from my GTS and matched it.
This would work the way it is susposed to do and sealto the hood.
The next question is - does this replicate the original seal.
Anyone got a picture of the original in good condition?

Jim,
Judging from the early pictures the seal was more of a "U" section with a flip up edge to make the seal to the hood. The drawing in my post is a match to the later 87 to 95 seal.
Ed,
Your seals look like mine do and maybe have lost some depth. Do yours still allow a seal to the hood?

Maybe the GTS seal is a longer version of the short one that is only available (OPC)

My car still has the original seals. In the pic, the one on the left side of the car is as they should be, the one on the right side of the car is what happens to them; they dry up and disintegrate. In my case, as they disintegrated they stuck to the hood (you can see a big piece stuck to the hood in the pic), so that would suggest that they are intended to fit tight to the hood.

And you can see in that pic that the shape of the seal is curved to hug the hood and make a tight seal.

Ken,
The later 87 to 95 fender seal looks like the cross section in my post #18.
The seal in your picture is the earlier 78 to 86 seal.
Later seal is 11" (280mm) long.

Doug,
Awesome as you have the correct original.
Can you get a close up of the end of the seal so I can see the cross sectional shape.
Is the rubber that seals with the hood spongy like the seal in Ken's post #21?

Or they might have more of a flat top (that sits on a 45 degree angle; seal is triangle shaped) that the curve of the hood presses into, and so becomes slightly concave over time...

Unfortunately the left one has since gone the way of the right. I took a phone pic of the left in its current shape. Based on my previous pic and this pic, it looks to me like the originals are exactly long versions of the short one in Ken's post #21. You can see in my phone pic that the part that grasps the fender does not wear out, but the "foamy triangle" piece is what disintegrates.

Thank you Doug,
Eureka – we have a plan.
I will send of one of the 78 to 86 short seals as a sample.
I will also look at getting it made in a better material so it will last a lot longer.

The 928 community does it again 8>)

perhaps Porsche became more concerned about letting some of the heat out than keeping water out !! Sitting idling in traffic those exhaust manifolds are going to cook everything above them.
