Default Finally got around to a valve cover refresh

Valve covers on the 88' S4 were original [with original gaskets], so I finally had time to pull them off and rid myself of those dreaded valve cover oil leaks.

As expected, Dwayne's write-up was utilized in the process:

what color white did you use?
That should look pretty cool.
I would suggest to use a thin bead of Hondabond 4 in the cover groove,
prior to installing the gasket into the cover.
Also make sure to fit the sealing washers under the heads of the cover bolts,
Roger has em
IIRC you need 26.

Oh a dab of HB4 to each cam cap joint where it meets the head surface prior to installing the cover

I'm about to be doing the same thing while performing a top end refresh to a '88 S4. Your valve covers look good. Will you be painting the intake or anything else under the hood?

Colin those covers look great .
Are the letters also PC or paint? or stickers?

Note in the picture the sealing washers I mentioned would go between the head of the bolts and the curved washers.

Stan,

The letters are painted with engine high temp paint. The letters are a bit of a rip IMO at the price they want.

And yes, dont forget to add the spacing washers between the bolt head, and the convex washers, or it will continue to leak!

I thought i was the only one who thought the prices for those letters was a little ridiculous.

Kiln, the intake is already painted the same color white. I'm just now getting around to doing the covers. I'll post a pic of the whole thing when I get them installed.

Merlin, this is the arctic white high heat engine spray. Its the same stuff I used on my intake.

BTW, thanks for the advice on the washers+HB.

Driver side is done. Now on to finish the passenger side. I also need to order an X-pipe w/o cats from Roger. Bye bye air pump. [also replacing a faulty hall sensor].

Does this mean you might actually drive the car?

Yep. Now that we're finally moved into the new house _and_ I'm actually home to live in the house, I can get back to work on the car. Travel sucks...

Maybe we need to have a Tech session on your car again?

BTW, Did you move closer in or farther out?

We'll save the tech session for when I need to replace the shocks. That and an AC conversion is next on my list.

I'm only closer by ~2 miles. Still in McKinney.
