Purists who hate the chevy conversion.... this car is legit.

Just check the basics on the Euro, you have compression and spark all you are missing is fuel...fuel pump relay, injector brain relay, maybe fuel pump, maybe the LH Injection brain. As Hilton said you are not that far away from BWAH !!! And running right the Euro can be a lot of fun.
And as a point of reference my old very brown 1980 in years and years of track abuse I have never pulled the engine on it....never !! Makes 12 times on the Mustang sound even worse I realize you were upgrading as well.

I am thinking that a good plan would be this: if you havent done it, maybe you shouldnt talk about it as if you have. Just a thought.
Again, had I known the drama would be this deep, I would have just skipped posting this. I still think the car is badass.
I still think that spending 3 times the money to get the same amount of HP just to say that its a Porsche engine is a bit bizarre... but I still respect the projects of those who have done it.

Once again.....it appears drag racing is your thing.................................its NOT a 928 thing.....these cars were never designed as drag racers...... Go ahead and put a big power Chebby in there and watch how fast you break driveline parts...... I HOPE you have the automatic....the stick won't last very long......

I think the air-cooled crowd would snicker at us taking affront at "purist". Maybe I'm weird but I'm a Porsche enthusiast because they happen to be the company that made the 928.
I think very few of us would take a perfectly running car and do a conversion.
If a conversion saves another 928 from the crusher and makes another convert and asset to this community then I say "go for it".

I am happy I found this forum, and I am super stoked that there are some very knowledgable people on here. I must say however, that there is a good percentage of individuals on here who are either just parroting out what someone else has said, or are quoting someone else info posted as their own.

And you will find there are lots of $1,000 or less 928s out there to be had....they even end up at Pick A Part and they pay very little for cars.

My comment about patience was more about the fact that you're obviously very close to having the Euro running, given it ran when you sprayed something into the intake.
First questions are:
Is the pump running when jumpered?
When the pump is jumpered (i.e. no fuel pump relay) will it start? (the relay is the most common failure)
After that basic test..
Test fuel pressure at the rail is within spec (manual has specs - the PDF manuals are US version, but your car's electronic injection system is basically the same as the US 85/86 in the manuals).
Check the dampener and fuel pressure regulators for leaks out the vacuum port
After that, chuck a noid light on an injector to see if there's a pulse - the Euro LH like yours takes regular high impedance injectors. Any short in the harness will take out all the injectors as they batch fire - so if no injectors firing, check the harness at each injector connector boot for worn insulation.
The other item to check is the MAF - if there's someone nearby on the list you might be able to borrow one, otherwise, search out injection labs for a rebuild.
Odds are its one of the above issues - LH2.2 ECU's are pretty reliable.

Since everyone is so in love with the Euro, and its engine, someone make me an offer on mine.
Many people on this thread are up in arms about a chevy in a euro car. If the Euro motor is so worth saving, and you guys rent averse to spending all that money bringing back to its full glory, then I say go for it. Somebody write me a check for the Euro, and I will find a US version to put a v8 in. This way nobody's feelings get hurt.

I mean, its got compression!
There is some street cred on the mat here.
So far its been lots of threads, a couple junker buys, and a crock of words.

ledee416, I take it your saying some folks say don't ruin a euro by a conversion, and your saying who wants to buy it so you can do a conversion on a different 928, correct?
If thats the case maybe someone would be willing to buy it, or trade another 928 etc...to make everyone as happy as they would like to be.

??????
I don't know or care which camp you're in, but that makes no sense. The pressure on him is to save it at all cost or let someone else do so. If he's going to prove he can get it running why the hell would he sell it?

Who wants it as a non runner?
Its just junk until it runs.
None of us need to forget that, BTW.
Fawning over a truly dead Euro is senseless.
Guys here have made it seem like its so valuable it will offset costs for a transplant.
Not likely.
