Default Option code sticker in trunk, no options listed

How is this possible ? The car has A/C, sunroof, leather interior, sport seats and more. Still not one option code on sticker. Is this normal for a Euro 928 from '86 ?
On an other note, does the VIN plate look original ?
Thanks for help.

Ah, the uber rare option code delete option.

Sorry little help here, but there are others who will have an answer shortly. I guess Erkka will know. It does seem rather strange. VIN tag looks good. Do you have the original owners manual? That will have a an option code sticker as well.

More description on rear boot tags in other years.
As said, the resident experts will give the details, but yours looks similar to most I've seen for 84, 85 and 86

What's with blocking out the vin code?

Provide those digits and somebody here with access to the Porsche data download will provide the options list that was actually applied to the car.

Do you have a snapshot of the VIN plate mounted at the hood latch?

Car is not mine, it's from a seller in Spain whom I requested to sent option sticker and vin plate. I am not sure he would appreciate his Vin posted.

The car is for sale with no books or service records but he spent a lot of money on it since he bought it in 2004. He has bills from indy from that time on.

I am not interested in knowing the option codes , I can see what the car has, I was just surprised they are not listed. Not that I doubt the sticker, it's not that. Just interested in the 'why'. I have had plenty of old and new 911's and never saw this.

I am at a point in my life I need to pursue this '928 thing' that has been bugging me since years now and would like to find a good car to restore.
I now know that I want a Euro 928S from '86, either a 'collector garage queen' or a 'good base to restore'.

I posted already about a Ducth car a few days ago and now I am looking a this Spanish car (both original Germany delivery, country code C00)
http://nl.autoscout24.be/Details.asp...83946980000000

Still puzzled why the Dutch car's option code sticker in trunk was almost completely blank and unreadable, was covered by a rather sticky foam that looked like to have 'eaten' the ink. And the foam looked original and covered the whole area. We had to scrap the foam of (it became a lot of dust) to find the hidden sticker. At least this Spanish car has a readable sticker.

The fun is in the hunt they say so will keep enjoying the search but would welcome all info some of you might want to share. I am a grateful !

The one from Holland I posted about has all books, including sticker in service manual and all options are listed after C00. So for sure some cars in '86 has options listed.
Or maybe, just maybe, the options were only listed on the sticker in the book and not on the one in the trunk. Curious mind would like to know

Hopefully some expert will chime in and take the mystery away.

Yes, with the last four digits many here can run the code and deliver the options.
(I never downloaded it).

Here is an example of thread doing just that, my 84 Euro is considered in here.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...up-thread.html
Only a few of the codes are on my trunk sticker.

Good luck with the searching and verifications! I hope it all aligns for you. 86 Euro sounds like the best year of all.

I think we misunderstood each other, I am not interested in knowing the options on that car. Just interested how come they are not listed on the sticker.

Thanks for the well wishes !

The rear truck carpet came with a rubberized backing, similar to the one under the spare wheel well cover. Over time this rubberized backing deteriorated and just becomes dust. But depending on the temperature the car has seen and if anything was stored in the truck during those extreme temperatures, it is conceivable that the rubberized backing would adhere to the truck floor.

Thanks for that !!
So the foam, by moisture and heat, got stuck to the floor and over time made the sticker go almost blank. Makes sense. The foam was really glued and at first thought this was how it is supposed to be. Thanks again for clearing that up.

Denis,
The under carpet foam should not be glued and should certainly not stick within the years.
Mine is of end 1984, MY 1985, and on the sticker there are no options listed either.
So nothing abnormal at all in what you indicate.
The VIN plate pic is also normal.
It is nevertheless always good to have the complete VIN number to check the full options and ensure wheter that the car is still original or not.
There are some good interesting cars offered presently in France, check on LBC or Amicale Porsche 928 forum / for sale.
Good luck in your search, there are a few 928 drivers in Belgium, should you need any support!

Thanks Ralph, I have a habit of making things complicated and I did it again just now.
I talked about 2 different cars.

The first is in Spain and option code sticker is perfectly readable but has no option codes (see picture)
The second is in Holland and the option code sticker was hidden by a foam that stuck to the bottom as if it was glued. When we peeled it of the sticker was more or less blank. You could see there used to be letters and numbers, also for option codes, but impossible to read. (took no picture)

The Dutch 'issue' is solved by Bilal928S4.
And apparently option codes did not always make it on the sticker for some dark reason only known at Porsche.

Where are you located ? Would love to come over and see your car, would help a lot. I am from East Vlaams Brabant.

What is LBC ?

Hi Denis,
LBC = le bon coin, www.leboncoin.fr
Porsche Club 928 France is http://forums.amicale928.org
I also meant that the options codes are not always listed on the sticker, but appear when you run the VIN number in the PET. Its the case on mine.
I am located in vlaams brabant too, close to Meise.
Just saw your other post, imho the dutch car is priced on the high side considering the work to be done.
You are welcome to come and see my car, or could fix a meeting spot.
Drop me a pm if interested, this w-e is quite tight but could surely find some commonly suitable timing.
Cheers,

It will not help. It just has VIN and weight info in it. For some reason some cars do not have all option codes listed in trunk sticker what are in factory database. If you want to restore car to original Its good to know what options car had when it left the factory. L999 is special metallic paint. So car is not really basic no options what so ever car.

Both trunk and book sticker should be same. Originally both stickers were in the trunk. One glued to truck and another still attached to it with backing still in place. When car was delived to dealer it was part of the preparation to take extra sticker from trunk and put it into book page.

My GTS had both stickers still in place at the rear and I wondered why ... now I know ... lazy Australian dealer! Thanks Errka.
