Subscribing. Not because I want to, but because I now have so much time invested in this xxxxxngredneck project that I have to.

Right on.

Was just reading yesterday about Lemons racing up here in the NW, looks like we have two events to choose from. Considered trying to find a $500 928 project, for about 2 seconds.

It's been awhile since I've dealt with SBC's, but I'm pretty sure a 307 can't be overbored to take a 327 piston, that's 0.125" overbore. If the block is a 307 block, then that's probably what you have.

That's a lot of cam for that motor, if it is a stock 307 and running that 600 cfm carb. I think you will find your motor to be a lot happier with a smaller cam, and you're fuel economy will go up quite a bit. (if that's an issue for you in Lemons racing). Probably sounds pretty cool at idle though.

Looks like a fun project.

This is now my favorite thread on RL. Also, do you play Guitar? Because you look suspiciously like Joe Satriani.

No guitar. No natural musical talent and couldn't be bothered to stick with it.

Usually I get Kelly Slater, pro surfer. Joe Satriani is a new one.

Perhaps it should be obvious to me but I'm blanking. What is the reason for the hole beside the "P" on the back bumper cover? All I can think of is maybe the kill switch but the hole looks too small.

I was thinking about picking up the '78 928 that has been sitting outside for 5 years that went up for sale here in Raleigh recently as a restoration project, but this sounds like almost as much fun!

Will be following this thread as well...

Yup. Kill switch. The one that was lost behind the bumper and has everything tied off on one terminal, rendering it useless.

It has to be relocated anyway, in that location it stands a very good chance of being snapped off or bashed to bits in Lemons/Chumpcar.

Nice thing about this car, from a Lemons perspective ---- It comes with its own built-in, inherent theme. You don't have to force it to look like a batmobile or something.Especially if you keep the Hoosiers.

During inspection, with a Jeff Foxworthy cassette tape playing low in the background, you guys in blue jean overalls and greasy t shirts, one with a banjo strapped, no, make that "roped", over his shoulder.... mama with stringy hair smoking an unfiltered pall mall and trying to feed the judges Cades Cove barbeque from the frozen foods section.... girlfriend with a blacked-out tooth trying to sneak off with the judge....

You boys are 85% there and the hard part is done.
