Any 928's Going to USGP This Weekend?
I am flying down tomorrow evening, staying at a friends house in Bee Cave area of Austin. We have seats in T9 bleachers.
Wondering if anything is going to be there, maybe can hook up for a beer or 2.

Glen,
I am in the Turn 12 grandstands. I think Michael M is going to be down here too. At the very least we should have a beverage or something together while you are here. If you have time and inclination love to have you guys up to the house to see the babies as well.
I'll PM you my number so you can call or text me while you are here.

I'll be headed down there in the morning for the full weekend. Coming with a few guys from work and meeting up with several guys down there that I havent met yet. One of the guys from work (who organized the weekend) daughter works for the track, and I beleive she's got us booked in about every thing thats going on, but wouold be glad to meet up with any fellow 928ers if time allows. We'll be staying at her friend's apartment near downtown. I'll shoot you guy a PM with my number in hopes we can meet up.

Boo-Hoo. Wish I was going. I went for the first time last year to Monza. Sat at the start/finish lines in the grandstand. Experience of a lifetime. First time I heard that exotic howl of an F1 engine at full tilt it gave me chills, and I am no stranger to racing. I wonder if they'll let fans storm the track after the race like at Monza. That was a crazy experience. If they do and you are close, run like hell to the podium. Here's a few pics to whet the appetite. Notice the Tifosi...
Enjoy the race!

I looked for you guy's but I did not see you. I was the one with the camera. I also was promting 928rus by wearing my 3rd coast T-shirt (your welcome).

I spent the day there as well. Wore my 928 owners club shirt and it started several conversations. Won't be able to attend tomorrow, but will definitely tune in. Sat in corner 19 General Admission all day and enjoyed watching car after car come into the corner a little too hot.

I saw you guys, why didn't you answer my wave?
Looks like a fun track, looking forward to a good race from in front of the TV.
P.S. For those who didn't go, with an estimated 80k attendance easy traffic in and out even though I had to drive from the east past COTA into Austin, then back out to the track
P.P.S.Lonnie, thanks for all the pics, my photo skills are somewhat deficient.

Just got home to PA short while ago. What an event! Got a chance to sit with James Morrison during Saturday afternoons historic GP race.
BIG crowds. This is a must see event. The track is just awesome, the drivers saying it is one of the best in the world.

Lonnie,
Were you driving your 928 south on Toll 130 and then off to Hwy 71 towards the airport around 7:30am Friday???? If so I was about 8 cars back from you and never was able to catch up...you wouldn't have noticed though as I was stealth in my white '12 Honda Accord coupe! I saw an '87/'88 that looks just like yours on Toll 130 Friday AM at any rate!

Glen it was GREAT to meet you and get to spend some time with you Saturday! What an event and what a track! I sure hope they let us Porsche guys out there at some point to play a little!! You KNOW I'll be out there if they do!!! YEE HA!
As Glen said, I was in Turn 12 and I think most all of the passing happened there. It was AWESOME for racing action. Unfortunately the handicap seating is quite low and all the way at the front so I couldn't see the rest of the turns following 12. I think any of the regular grandstand seats could though so they had a GREAT view of a bunch of corners!
I paid my $200 for a three day parking pass and we drove right in and right out every day no big deal AT ALL! In fact we were making it from our house to the track or vise versa in 45 min! Considering the dire predictions of 12 hour traffic lines we were quite pleased. They said full weekend attendance was close to 300k and for the race it was more than 110k! Not bad!
Incidentally for the MotoGP race in the spring my guess is a seat where you can watch the Esses after turn 2 would be the most fun to watch for the bikes. I'd stick with turn 12 for car races though!
