I too agree about bringing it back to its original from the condition it is in right now...time and money and lots of it, yes it makes more sense to buy a 83 or 84 for cheap and swap parts from this one and sell the rest on ebay to recover as much BUT if this is your passion and challenge and a deep pocket then go for it.

I hate to see one torn apart, but I think this one already has been. +1 on the organ donor. It's spirit can live on.

you lost me on. what is a pod? Are you refering to the gauge pod? they are crappy sunpro gauges in there. The only thing missing from the center is the radio, the clock, and the HVAC controller which i have. The seats to me look like they were done pretty well actually. why would it matter if it were Porsche covering or not? Nobody is going to be judging this car. The rear bumper cover is pushed in a little bit, but there doesnt appear to be any evidence that the car was hit back there. I would imagine that if you hit one of these up that high where it is pushed in, it would do a lot more damage than that.

I have no intention of restoring the car to concourse or even to factory original. It is more like a project car for me to have some fun with. I do plan to fix the body, and paint it. The door panels actually arent that bad either. They need a little tlc for sure.

as for the AC? I am a little confused about that too. AS long as the compressor works, and the system doesnt leak, why would it be so hard to put ac in? I put an ac kit in a 67 mustang for under 1500 bucks. I cant imagine that it would be even that much if there are no leaks. is there anything complex about the ac system in this car I should know about?

truth is, I just love the body style. I plan on buying a Ferarri f355 within the next 9 months or so. I am fortunate enough to have a very good job.

that being said, I dont want to flush a ton of money into this car though. I do want it to look nice, with some fresh paint and body work. I think that if this were a candidate for a frame off resotration to be shown it would be a bust for sure. Those arent my intentions at all though. I am not a real big fan of "factory original".

I definitely see your point though. The car is in need of a lot of work. Not that it runs though, I will fix the cosmetics for fairly cheap. Hopefully the brake issue is just a master cylinder. I can get a bumper and fender for 300 bucks. I have been told by a friend (not a porsche guy) a few minutes ago that any vacuum operated hvac system can be rigged to work, and that as long as I wasnt stuck on using Porsche oem parts, it wouldnt be too much assuming compressor is good, and the evaporator didnt leak. big ifs I know. I guess i will play it by ear. If I run into any more significant problems, I will rip out the motor and put the 350 in it with an ac kit and be done with it.

There is nothing special about the AC system. The original o-rings will probably be shot if they are still in there. I'd put the newer green ones in.
