Phew. I was starting to worry the base map was hard coded in the 8052 ROM.

(If I understand it correctly that could be fixed, to read only from the EPROM, but might require a small board mod.)

Congrats Ken, car looks great!

I think you extracted all you could from the S3 platform, will be interesting to see what you can do with the S4.

Base map is a bit of misnomer in 2.3 (2.4), it seems.
It's the MAF ideal airflow map, if I understand it correctly.

The adjustment map overlays this, AFAIK. Still working on how.

I was surprised when I first pulled this up, because it looks virtually the same as the stock LH2.2 main fuel map (there is only one).
But it makes sense, as the MAF is the same.

All new parts are in!

Just have to replace the covers, hoses, fans, etc.

Hopefully running today!

I think my first baby programming project will be to try and make the non-cat adjustment map the WOT map (ignoring the 2D WOT map).

3D WOT map, yay!

Why not just set all the WOT map values to zero and use the main fuel map ? Do you particualrly want to differentiate when the WOT switch is triggered ?

If you retain the non cat map, then you can offer an alternative mapping for different fuels etc.

I like to keep them separate.
For LH2.2, I did tune for WOT at high load, but I didn't have a choice, due to limited space.
I still had to use the flat WOT map for low to mid RPM full throttle.

The cat map can still be tuned for heavy part throttle, at not quite WOT richness.
With multiple maps, (eventually) the MAF/rpm scaling can be different, for higher precision.

And...by using the cat/non-cat maps, folks can tune with the SharkTuner without changing the ST program.
If the code is small enough, I will make it available in the TunerPro definition I am putting together, so folks can patch their ST BINs.

There's enough memory for lots of maps, so when I am confident enough programming the 8051, I will likely restore the coding plug options, with multiple maps for each.
I don't expect to have a chipset of my own for at least a few months, so I'm not thinking about world domination, yet.

Id like to wonder if you can have a unit that can 'adjust' a coding plug, based on the fuel it sees in the system.

"Wow, jeff just filled up with E85, let me use THAT map..."..and the coding plug configuration is changed.

ya..dreaming...

Runs and drives!

Drives nice. Has electric gremlins, pod lights are out.
Have to rev it up after starting to get the alternator to kick in.

Runs at a consistent 5/8+ on the temp gauge.
Fans are both working.

Cam timing is correct.
New hall sensor is connected.

Next PKT batch, I'm going to make a spacer plate to replace just the pump end of the bracket.
(The S4-up cover needs a spacer, and I don't want a single bolt one that could fall inside.)

I sourced this terminal which simplifies things too.
(Comes with certain Ford starter solenoids.)

I'll send Roger extras for retrofitting.

'Hot', 'speed', tip for coolant refill.

After a water pump change, fill the block up at the T-stat hole.
Water pump never runs dry = bad for the ceramic seal, AFAIK.
Takes over a gallon.

This time, I also filled the radiator via the top hose.

Both steps make refilling much faster, with less burping.
