Default 5L V8's with ITBs are hot again?

I was struck by how similar this looks to a 928 engine.. its modified from the FIA GT-R racer, and is developed by Nissan for running in the Aussie "V8 Supercars" race series. Bore and stroke are slightly different than ours, but quoted 10:1 compression.

It has interesting CF trumpets and a nice looking ITB setup - plus its 5L. There's a pic of the airbox in the link too. I wonder what power it'll make? As a comparative benchmark for our engines it should make a pretty interesting yardstick.

Here's a link to more info:

Interesting similarity to our engines..

Quad-cam with no variable valve timing (race series rule prohibits VVT)
5.0L (4990cc)
Cast Aluminium block
90 degree V8
10:1 compression (race series requirement)

The bore is slightly larger and stroke shorter - so not quite such a high piston speed, and revs to 7500rpm

Noteworthy that the differences are things that various people here have already done to our engines:

Sequential COP injection
DLC coating on lifters
Cylinder liners
Dry sump (I think?? Dailey pump has been discussed here for such a purpose)
ITB's, CF intake runners and manifold

The hp is supposed to be around 650hp (presumably at crank). So.. any volunteers to modify their 5.0L engine in a similar fashion?

The list of manufacturers of the various bits is pretty similar to what we read about here.. Mahle pistons and pins, carillo rods, total seal rings etc.

The stock VK56DE (what this motor is built off) is a 320hp engine.

Alex - your build is very interesting. If you're waiting on dyno results, that means its all together now? Cool!
