Do you still have the stock 16V oil filler setup? It works really well....MUCH better than that chimmey you have now.....that WON'T WORK....

On my 16V racers....its super simple....plug every single route for oil to get into intake, which is easy.....take the 1" line at the top of the oil filler and route it to a breather...in my case just a $4.99 seperator from Autozone.....or your provent would be ideal

Another thought....HOW HIGH IS YOUR OIL LEVEL.....I found that anywhere near full (assuming you don't have a pan spacer) is very likely to whip up the oil and crankcase pressures....if I keep the oil around 1/2 it barely spits at all.....at full....it spits like crazy!!!!!!

the stock oil filler with its plastic insert is another seperator....venting off the top 1" port essentially makes it a two stage seperator....

not sure how it would not work? other then the stock "basket" filler housing being a second screener, i dont see how straight to the provent would not work. (maybe i have a hose collapsing)

i ran my 4.5 the say way you did, but instead of to atmosphere i used the scavenge from the exhaust. had no issues. as a concept, the one i have is the same. i just need to figure out whats its deal.

right now the hose that goes from the plate to the provent has a not so nice bend that might be getting sucked close at RPM...

getting sucked closed would require vacuum....your crankcase is making PRESSURE and lots of it....far too much really......

I only speak from what I have run and what worked for me..... 100 hours on track on my old estate with only a K&N attached to the oil filler as a vent....only slightly different on my current engine....an 12 hours so far on it.....

This is the right question. You ran it the other day to tune it for the dyno and then on the dyno. Something must have changed.

No indication of coolant/oil mix is great. Now we have to figure out why it's spitting oil (or more oil than before).

I don't understand the crankcase vent/provent systems enough to offer anything but I do know that the answer to solving most of these 'custom install' issues is to restore to factory configuration and test it, then make small changes until you identify the cause of the problem.

Is this an option or have you gone so far from stock that there's no easy way back?

Crankcase breathing is an absolute art. It's one of the hardest things to do right.
And I can tell you that what you have isn't nearly enough.

I also still need to know what is your current CR?

oil level is full.

not sure on the compression ratio.

heads are from a M28/22 84-86 4.7 euro LH
block is a M28/43 85-86 5L US

so im guessing mid 10's

one thing i need to check is the one way suction valve down on the exhaust. could be it went to crap and is not creating suction, ergo, not flowing causing the pressure to have no where to go.

My .02 you did not hone the bores and you have new rings . Its going to take a long ... time to seal up . Your vent hose is too small as lizard pointed out . And you are venting into a exhaust system ? that is presurizing the crank ?

if that check valve went bad, then it could be pressurizing the motor. thats on my agenda to figure out today.

Late to the party, but here is my take. New rings aren't seated. Couple that with the supercharger and you are getting lots of blowby under load. The oil separator can't keep up. Once the rings seat you should most likely be fine. I don't know about rings in an Alusil bore, but when I did pistons/rings in my turbo Audi with an iron block it took about 1000 miles for them to seat. Prior to that I had massive blowby. Afterwards none. I have a 3/4" hose into an oil separator. The separator vents air to atmosphere and oil to a catch can. I get a cup or so every few thousand miles.

another update.

so i checked out the evac system today. the hose from the Provent was fine, maybe a light misting of oil residue, nothing that made me think twice. took the hose off by the one way valve, (it has a slight dip in it), and ya, oil came out. a fair amount was in that "saddle" in the line. one way valve checks out fine, but i will replace it anyway.

sounds to me like lots of blow by.

going to add a new valve, clean up the system and drive her some more this afternoon (depending on the kiddo's nap time)

id like to add some vent lines from the cam towers (i have sent emails to DR about his adapters over a few months ago and have yet to hear back. so i tried to call yesterday.) might have to fab my self up a set and/or have them made local. run the main vent line and two little lines from each cam tower to one hook up at the prevent. maybe even add another filter inline or a catch can.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I'd suggest keeping the oil level as low as you feel comfortable until the rings are seated to minimize windage.
