Can the moderators make this thread sticky until the parts are delivered or the funds are returned? No point of having other 928 people paying for orders before this is resolved.

Forgive my sceptisism BMW, but you come here and post a good review about the company.
Yet our member has received no parts, and no returned calls.

I am not discriminating your English skills, mearly commenting that both you AND the fellow who wrote the email to Errka both have poorer English.
I find it possible that you actually work for PPM and are trying to minimize the damage control for the company.

BMWS85B58 might be working for PPM or be just happy customer who is willing to help. In both cases it gets PPM's attention and maybe makes them either return money as I have asked for or finally deliver rods. If they still haven't made them returning money would be better option as it would allow us (Niklas of SharkTuner fame, I'm building 5.4L SC engine for his S4) to proceed elsewhere where we are fairly certain we get what we pay for on time.

Errka ... sorry I haven't been able to follow this up for a while ... family illness has meant my focus has been elsewhere.

I just left a message on his cell phone reminding him of my last call, and my expectation and his promise, that things would happen. I said that you had not been informed as he promised, have not received anything, and now have the expectation that your money should be refunded, as you no longer have any confidence in him.

I said that his communication is woeful, and that I expected him to call me back ASAP to inform me how and when he is going to respond. I have also reminded him that he is getting negative worldwide publicity on the matter.

If I don't get a return call today I'll call back tomorrow .. and the next day .. and the next .. until I get an answer.

BMWS85B58 .... If you are seriously concerned about this I suggest you also get on the phone and attempt to get some action now.

I have just had a return phone call from Thomas Faska.

To his credit he did not try to offer any lame excuses, and as the business owner he personally took the responsibility for the delay and lack of communication. He explained that, in addition to other difficulties, he originally had three suppliers of forgings but has lost two in months past (out of business), and now has only one supplier who is struggling to cope. I believe that he genuinely has had a lot of factors out of his immediate control conspiring against him, which have led to the delays, including perhaps being short staffed.

I was impressed that he wasn't aggressive or defensive, and it seemed to me that he was genuine in his undertaking that he will make things right. Errka ... I understand he will be, or has just been, in contact with you by email.

I did get the impression that he is an honourable man, who has just had a **** of a year. I hope this thread eventually demonstrates that.

Thank you very much Dave. Your involvement seems to have helped again. I did get email from him where he offers partial refund if we are willing to wait some time. Week or two more wainting time is not a problem. But if they aren't still ready after that then it starts to become issue. Ordering them from elsewhere would mean additional few month delay. I have asked for exact date when package is on its way. Hopefully I'll get answer without having to resort your help once again.

Errka!
I have bougth specialmade rods (160mm) and pistons (104mm, lower comp height)two times from PPM
First time a received the goods after 6 months which in this business is not unusual, however the rod was not correct the pin baering was centered over the main baering and not off center as it is supposed to be, Thomas fixed me a new correct set without any extra cost or arguments, it took six months but he fixed it.
Second time it just took 4 months and everything was correct.
So my experience is that Thomas will deliver but it normally takes time.
However the quality of the products are good and price/performance is very good.
My first set piston/rods have so far cooped with 144 hours of endurance racing, a street driver will never
come close to stress the parts like that.

I think that if you keep chasing him he will deliver good products in the end.

I just received my crankshaft, rods, and pistons from PPM on Friday, everything looks as expected. I'm pretty happy with it. I can post pictures if needed. The time it took was just a week or two more than he quoted but that's something I think you can expect when you're having custom parts made.

I think the community at large needs to rethink expectations here - custom bits DO TAKE TIME. We should allow suppliers to promise long lead times - BUT at the same time the suppliers need to stay on top of communication and let us know about delays. It shouldn't be that rough. As someone who's been on the receiving end of endless promises and delays by a now defunct supplier, I'd much rather have someone tell me you'll get what you need in 4 months, maybe get it in 10weeks than you'll have it in 4 weeks and it takes 6 months. I'll wait for quality. I won't tolerate broken promises or the lack of communication in todays E-connected world.

Glad this worked out in the end. There are a couple of things I take from this experience:

- suppliers need to respond to customer inquiries in a timely fashion
- clients (posters) should choose their thread titles with care.

A google search for PPM will undoubtedly include this thread title, but how many people will never read the happy conclusion?

BS. Thread is appropriately titled. That is one of the functions of this technical forum. Its a check and balance. Easy to take people's money for a promise, easy to give critique. Deal with it.

All prospective buyers should thank the buyer for alerting us. We hope an acceptable outcome is reached.

It will take an acceptable outcome to make the buyer whole.

Beyond that, it will take communication of a comprehensive set of corrective business actions before anybody should purchase from such an outfit.

Two years ago this community made a huge mistake in dealing with another business, the scamming used parts seller from Phila. MO was making a few happy as hell, then preying on the rest. Its a clever and common modern form of business theft. The mouthpieces "for" unwittingly persuaded others to keep the flow of money rolling.

Meet reasonable expectations for fair commerce or GTFO.

No more BS.

Just realized I mistook AndrewLang's post for the OP. Guess we'll see.
