Its good to hear some have had success with PPM. In our case we haven't been so lucky. Got email from them last night. Rods are ready 13th or 14th of December. Already in 16th of this month they were supposed to be in machine shop being machined and now they are ready two weeks from now. I know there are many steps in making rods but who knows whats actually going on.

Looking at the product I received I would imagine that places like PPM are sourcing their parts from a variety of factories, its not hard to imagine there being delays on a particular piece. Just a thought.

No more BS.
I've intentionally tried to be non judgemental and give the vendor the benefit of the doubt in this, because everyone can have rough patches where things just don't go right, despite all their best effort; but I'm beginning to feel less generous and understanding. In the call I made on the 11th of October I was told that the lack of email or any other form of communication was because of a "(computer) virus" and that the rods were "in the final stages of production" ... exact quotes !!!

Check post #38 in this thread to see the same reassurance given to Errka in an email on the 12th ... Quote: Your order is nearly finish! We will be able to send it very soon! So please don’t worry!.

On the 16th of this month (as per Errkas post above) they're supposedly in the machine shop .... again .. and won't be ready for another two weeks.

Errka .. it's beginning to sound like you and I are being fed a continuous stream of high speed BS. Same crap .. different day. Tell him I'll be in Melbourne over the Christmas period to personally pick up your full refund if you haven't got your order by then.

They promised them to be ready and shipped by 13th and I gave them time until 18th. They shipped on 17th and package arrived last Friday. I haven't had change to do more than very quick visual check for two rods. Looks ok but have to measure all eight before can say we got what we payed for.

However now there is small problem of two feet of snow in garage driveway where all tools are. Need to get shovel along to get anywhere near the door.

Erkka,
Glad that at last you got something! Hope it turns out they are good/usable after this long saga... how is anyone supposed to get anything done...?

Still I suppose sometimes its good to have an excuse (because I always have other stuff get in the way too...) - Life!

Finally had some time to check what they send. Its not good, not good at all. They are basically 944 rods with 27mm wide big end meaning there is no offset at all. At least lenght and small end diameter is what was ordered. I hope normal 150mm 928 rods they sell are different. If not, other people will have problems they might not be aware of. How the hell I missed it on first look.

Well that sucks hairy *******.

Mine were correctly offset and meausred ok in other respects as well:

The 944 offset (or lack thereoff) is curable easily, but it's not the customer's job to do that. Are you going to send them back or cut them down to size?

I don't know how it could be cured. They go back. Only use I could have for them is boat anchor.

Got it, so the width is right but offset is wrong, misunderstood you originally. No easy way to cure that...

Time to make this thread sticky if the firm has gone down the tubes like that.

Right. 944 is 29mm and has no offset. These are 27mm and all is centered including bearing cuts.

Erkka,

SO sad to hear this as the final outcome. After all this time, and the intervention of our good Aussie guys, it still is VERY late and VERY wrong. I hope you have better success with whoever you choose for another supplier of custom con rods.

Happy New Year anyway!!!
