Default Fire Extinguisher Mount

After my recent engine fire scare, I bought a extinguisher. Now I need to find a way to mount it in the car that is convienent to get to, does not impede on entry/exit and is solidly mounted. Any ideas guys? I am thinking about mounting in front of the passenger seat using the seat mount bolts so I do not have to modify the car. Any one ever done it this way.

Default A few choices

Paul,
there's a few options, a number of racing supply people carry a mount for the Porsche that uses the seat mount bolts. Moves with the seat so it doesn't mess up adujustability.
I'd be inclined to put one right under my knees on the driver's side for easy access in a worst case scenario.
(Mine's behind the driver's seat right now BTW).

Here's what I did.
Simple, functional, and absolutely unobtrusive for a good sized unit.

Where is that mount? I don't understand from the image.

And I wonder if velcro is safe in the event of a crash. A four pound hammer caroming about is a scary thought.

@ Paul
Thanks for initiating this thread! I didn't even think about making a thread on this topic! If somebody can make a thread *as useless* as a cup holder mount thread, why not a thread about fire extinguishers!!?

@ Bob
Where did that hardware come from. I really like the mount!

PS - Sorry to be so nasty about cup holders, but I think one should do only one thing at a time... Drive or drink, but not both...

I picked up the extinguisher and mounting hardware at Northstar Motorsports in Barrington Illinois.

I would guess you can find these same items locally at your nearby racing shop.

Unless you put a good size bottle in there, none of these small ones do anything.

Here's where mine is. Just remove the plastic **** thingy (not sure what it is for anyway), store it where you can put it back if you want to and mount the extinguisher using the same screw. Put some two sided tape on the back so it won't rotate on the screw and voila!

Mounted mine behind the drivers seat... Used the existing holes for restraint loop. Hope I never need to use it
