6 Speed Trans Swap/Pics
#393
Hi Dinsdale,
Tempting... but difficult since I live in Spain.
I think the 928 Auto community is begging for that kit.
Quite sure that if you come up with a working Auto trans conversion, you would count orders by hundreds
I will stay tuned
Thanks
Tony G

Three Wheelin'
Isn't that one of the intentions of putting a 6 speed in a 928? To make it feel like an actual sportscar, and not like shifting a truck.

He stole the Motodyne set up and moved the rear sensor to the front wheels, as you know they have already done the conversion for the front sensors and put it at the rear for those '92 GTS's he's done. He's even got Carl on board for cudo's Derpy Herpy.

How well does your half shafts align with the position that factory 928 shafts. Just to be clear I mean the angle from the diff housing to the drive hubs. I think your MY82 had the revised Porsche geometry. From the last pic it appears that the shafts/diff "may" be further back than what it might be in the factory setup but it is hard to tell from that pic. If so I take that the Corvette assembly is longer and you have positioned the gearbox as far forward as you can before the bell housing/front of the transmission touches the body.
How is the kit progressing? Thanks in advance

Slate Blue, the axles are lower. Don't know how much. Maybe 1 1/2". the pics are of my 82 with custom bell housing. axle distance from bell housing is the same. You have to jam the vette trans as high as possible to keep the stock suspension geometry. the pinion drives the ring gear much lower on the 928, Regards, Dinsdale

Slate Blue, The vette portion of the drive train is stock. Except, you do have to reposition the shifter. the Bell housing and guide tube are modified. Clutch disc's are mfg to fit the vette input. If you want a kit PM me and we will discuss this.
