As always I am sold on your hoses and if you let me have the updated prices I have customers waiting to buy.
Price is always a concern and I would rather sell a kit than allow owners to make mistakes with the wrong type of hose.
I have yet to see any issues with either SAE30R9 or Barricade - but maybe you know different.

To be honest we did have leaks with your hoses but happily you fixed those by changing the termination method.

As long as owners are happy to pay for your superior hoses I will continue to sell them.

I sell quite a bit of "pushlock" hose and fittings.

"Pushlock" hose barbs are "another animal" completely. They are completely different than the barbs meant for plastic line. When you push a piece of pushlock hose onto a pushlock fitting....the only way to remove it is to cut it....that stuff really grabs on. That being said, I can't really remember the last time I saw a a piece of pushlock hose, on a pushlock fitting, that had fuel running through it....even on low pressure carburated American Hot Rods.

Also note that "pushlock" is designed for use without clamps....because they know that the clamps are going to cause the inner liner of the hose to be cut on the barbs....just like Gates says it will.

Taking a piece of hose that is too big for the barbs or line, and clamping it down onto the barbs or line isn't anything that I'd even remotely suggest someone do. You would probably be way safer with your 25-30 year old hoses and lines.

I have Rogers kit and plan on taking the bite out of the sharpness of the barbs, when i install it.

Which kind of puts you in uncharted territory territory how much do you blunt them and what does that do to the integrity of the connection ???? I have no idea and neither do you !! Sure the margin for errror might be pretty broad but who knows ? some people have drilled holes in their head with a drill motor with success, what ever that means they are still alive.

I am interested for my 1981.

I checked mine yesterday and they are all pliable (doubt mine are original) and checked all the clamps. I count 10 rubber hoses - 8 short and 2 that are about 3 inches long. Is this correct or did I miss some?

Yes, as you know, originally I offered "AN style" rubber inner liner hose with two piece "replaceable" ends that "threaded on" (just like all old style Earls/Aeroquip fittings.....and shown in the picture below my name.) Unfortunately, these hoses were very sensitive to how far the ends were threaded together and I did see a few hoses that had compromised the inner liner of the rubber hose. Never really clear if the customers had decided to thread the ends farther together, or not. All of the returned hoses had been tampered with and tightend as tight as possible, so very difficult to determine. I did warranty all of these leaking hoses, of course.

I went back to the Germans and asked them to create some hose ends that were for PTFE (teflon) hose and that were "crimped" on...to eliminate the "customer" feeling "the need" to further tighten the fittings.

That "brings" us to the hoses I make today.

I'm really happy that you have had such great luck with the Gates Barrier hose and clamps on the barbed fittings made for plastic (which Gates says should not be done.) Hard to argue with success, but I'm guessing that Gates might have a reason to not recommend doing this? Perhaps the problems show up after a few years? Hard to know, but they do make the stuff....and it seems like they should know what works and doesn't work? It sure scares me.

87 s4, front fuel line curved right side. here is pic. this is plastic fuel line.

is it barbed underneath? can replace with pushlok? and what is the id or inner diameter of this hose?

for all rear engine fuel hoses, are there barbs there as well?

Stock front hoses = all barbed, with plastic line on barbs.

Rear hose from filter = Crimped rubber.

I seriously need to move to Texas. You guys must work under a completely different set of legal rules than I do.

I couldn't buy enough liability insurance, here in California, to cover my *** for installing Gates hose on barbs made for plastic, much less be assurred that I wouldn't end up in jail, if something went wrong:

California Judge:

"Now, Mr. Brown. You installed this Gates hose on these barbed fittings made for plastic hose with full knowledge that Gates specifically recommended that you not do this, resulting in this car fire and terrible burns to Jim?"

Greg:

"Uhhh...well....yes."

California Judge:

"Two questions, Mr. Brown.

What are the limits on all of your insurance policies, all put together? And would the next hour be enough time for you to move out of your house, so that Jim can move in?

Oh, and by the way, Mr. Brown.

I hope you are gay and like it dry. We're going to let you sit in state prison until you figure out why this was so wrong."
