Mine started to do this same stumble the other day on my auto....

Damn, didnt want to have to do a pump on it.
Guess I'll order up the 044 strainer (murf or Greg), and install the 044 on my turbo then put that pump into the auto..... now to find the time... .

Thats very slightly optimistic for an 87-88 pump.

Specs from Bosch are:

80-86 - 140L/h @44psi
87-88 - 141 L/h @58psi (2.35 L/min)
89-95 - 147L/h @58psi

044 pump - 200L/h @ 72psi

Jeff - It was me that talked to you on the phone at 928's R Us.

If I remember our conversation correctly - I told you I could have one drop-shipped to you over night so you could have it tomorrow. You needed it Fed Ex'd to which I said shipping would probably be around $70-$80 and I gave you the price for the pump. You then said never mind you were going to meet Mark this weekend so you were going to see if he could just bring you one.

Mark's already set sail for Norcal..no biggie.

Mark has a pump on the way to me, I just needed the adaptor kit/etc for it.

How much are these 044s? I just put a new regular pump in and it may not be playing well with the ethanol. Todd's 044s have caused him no problems - maybe their seals are synthetic or something.

I'm getting 17:1 AFRs even at part throttle WOT won't go below 15:1 when it was able to get into 14:1 before. Oops.

Read the threads on here before you go with the 044.
(I speak from experience).
You want the kits that go with the pump, and, your AC should be working well to keep the fuel temps down in warm weather.

About $200. They are big pumps so if you don't need it, don't bother. It just heats up the fuel. A stock pump should be no better or worse with ethanol.

John,
I would love to buy 044 pumps for $200 - where are you finding them.
I see them at that price but nobody ever has one.
I have experianced a larger than normal failure rate with the Bosch 044 pumps.

I prefer Walbro pumps because of that, they are more efficient. I don't think anyone here really needs a special pump IMHO.

If you do get a Bosch 044, beware of the China knockoffs.

+1. There are two types of Bosch 044 pumps. The ones that say "Made in Germany" are the fake knock-offs. You can tell it's the real thing if it says "Czech Republic". The knock-offs don't only fail faster, but they usually don't even flow what they are supposed to. I bet there is a town in China called Ger Mah Nee.

Not only that, the negative pump terminal is made of steel-colored soft putty, just ask me how I know

And this is where I got my genuine 044 pump for under $200:

Interesting! So why is the factory spec'ing 1250cc in 30sec for the 90+ cars? (At 3.8 bar/55 psi). That's 2.5 L/min, the Bosch spec would be 2.45.

What got me on to that was running out of fuel at the top end with our GT, and then finding that the two-year-old stock pump was only pumping 2.3 L/min (1150cc in 30 sec per WSM test). I fit an '044 rather than another stock pump, it tests 3.2 L/min (with stock wiring) and works just fine.

Cheers,

This has way more capacity than a Bosch 044.
I think the production application is Mercedes sl55 AMG (check to be sure) Don't know where to source them

I'm skeptical of that one too Dan.
They have a website but with nothing about them and no address, just a PO box.
I know that Bosch wants distributors to have an actual building dedicated to Bosch, no houses, no shared businesses in the same building.
