Looks like some sucker fell for the wealthy uncle BS and purchased it. Now he has it back on EBAY.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...ht_2088wt_1165

Also says that he bought it for $2400 off EBAY but:
"Only missing 1 cap-see picture (I MIGHT REPLACE THE BLACK MESH RIMS/TIRES WITH FACTORY OEM SILVER 6 SPOKE RIMS WITH 90%TREAD TIRES IF BID ENDS OVER $10,000."

Wishful thinking.....
Maybe our beloved cars are on the verge of a turnaround this year

That's what Hagerty is forcasting. But, it could be wishful on their part, as well.

Please note that this car has evidently cloned itself. In the auction listing it is in Tuckahoe, NY and the classified ad lists the location as Cape May, NJ.

My favorite part of the classified listing is that the photos of the FRESHLY PAINTED car were all taken outside of an Earl Scheib branded shop. This was likely prudent. Better to get the photos taken prior to the topcoat lifting and peeling.

Wikipedia says this about the Scheib business model:

Scheib was plagued with a high employee turnover rate due to the demands of attempting to paint up to five cars a day. The company's main criterion in hiring and promoting management trainees was based on sales skills only. Knowledge of auto body repair or painting techniques was not required. Trainees underwent a short training period and were then assigned to their own shops. Managers who failed to increase sales for three successive months were fired, regardless of seniority.
I really wanted to type this with my CAPS LOCK on to enhance my credibility but I just couldn't do it.

What would you have to do to destroy a seat like that in only 30,000 miles ????

also, it looks like somebody (probably the current owner) puked all over the back of the driver's seat. Dayum, what a car. Imagine the history!

So essentially, this is the Jiffy Lube of body shops?

That's not really fair to iffy lube.

From the 1960's:

Current price for any car/any color with coupon is $299.

Of course, there may be situations where a cheap and lousy paint job is perfectly appropriate.

One of the most beautiful cars ever built should really never get a shoddy tape and spray.

11 bids up to $2800 with 4 days left. Maybe using all CAPS in an ebay ad helps sell. Or maybe the power of Earl Scheib....

This one has been out in the sun in the East coast's salt air for years and years.

Basically, it's 928 Jerky.

Now that I think about it, that's doing good jerky a disservice.
