Default Cup holder search finally ended

I have been looking for something different than those I have seen posted so far. I had seen these about a year ago, but it did not look like they had a 928 model. So I wrote the guy. Turns out he is right up the road in Northern VA. They are high quality and sturdy. Best thing is though, you cannot even see them unless you are looking for them. Pics below and his website is http://www.ultimatecupholders.com

You have to choose a model to purchase based on Porsche make, since ours are not listed yet, he advised to use this model, and it works great.
Boxster/996

However he wanted to know if all our models have the same carpet board for it to slide under. I told him I would ask before he posts that they will fit 928's.

You need at least 5 inches from carpet edge to board overlap for it to fit (mine is just slightly over 5 inches). 1983 928S US

As you can see, the cool way it works is that there is a top part that is slightly bent. When it is inserted underneath the overlap board, it holds well. The inside is covered with felt so not scratch your coffee mugs etc. It can be bent to adjust to different sizes. He has a deal if you buy 2, 5 bucks off I think. Mine was 31.24 including the shipping and tax. Not exactly cheap, but it is not a cheap product either. You cannot even tell it is there while you are driving. Of course it also fits on the passenger side.

Anyway - there you go.......year long search successful!

Edited - for those that asked for Pics showing me in the driver seat as well....2 pics now added

That looks great--my only concern is that it will break the board-they are fragile enough as it is.

Fiberglass it.

Not bad at all. I just use my groin though. Just don't get into any spirited driving. I've squished/ cracked a plastic fast food cup with my thighs while clutching once. No worries, the seat of my pants caught most of it.

ATB - sure I will do that this week
jthwan22 - no I don't think so, you can bend it to fit smaller or larger cups etc. But i think a soda can is a little splashy anyway, don't use 'em. (new interior... HA)
Mickster - no it does not put that much force on it I do not think. The carpet keeps it in place pretty well without a lot of pressure from the bend. the top part is bent back about 1/2 an inch I think.

btw - I will have it at the Frenzy Oct 6th in No VA if you want to get a closer look.

Default I've been looking at those

I've been looking at those for about a year now, and didn't know if the fit was right for the 928. Someone else was supposed to have ordered and tested these and never reported back IIRC.
Something else to put on the list now.......

I don't know about the functionality of that one. The Reach. The Movement of The Unit.
Hands down this is the most user friendly. Sits flush with the console, holds two and a phone, and removes on the dime. Passengers REALLY don't complain even when asked. And is 5.00$ at Walmart.

MainePorsche,

Dont mean to hijack the thread, but where did you get that shift **** & boot? Very nice! Mine is stock, old & worn, and needs to be replaced - especially after installing a short shifter... Thanks in advance.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program already in progress....
