Victor's Rotrex Supercharger Kit - Group Buy?
#16
Track Day
Hi,
i am from Austria and currently in the process of a top end refresh of my 928 GT:
http://www.pff.de/porsche/board104-p...-sensoren-etc/
Soon (hopefully today) I will finish the work and startup the engine.
Next project will be the implementation of a Supercharger Kit. So I am highly interested in the group buy.
Please can you tell me what work have to be done to install the kit on a stock engine ? Do I have to buy any more parts or is everything(!) included in the kit ?
Will you ship to Austria/Europe ?
Thank you very much for your Answer.
Greetings from Vienna
Wolfgang

Remember "street fuel" in CA is 91 octane. Engine will not be happy. Requires a different tune.
By the way, for those playing at home a claim of guaranteed 450 crank HP could be as low as 369 wheel HP (assuming 18% loss). Most s4s in descent shape will throw down 270 RWHP no problem. So the way I read it, you are guaranteed an increase of about 100 HP at the wheels. This is very much in line with 6lbs of boost. I think most of us use 18whp for each pound of boost - Murf or twin screw. I suspect the same holds for the rotrex.

Mike, we should set the record straight here. Yes the dyno sheet for my car said 481hp and 426tq. BUT that was my car after a lot of tuning, a supermaf setup, different exhaust, and I let it go past 6lbs of boost, and yes no intercooler but a cool Michigan day, not Texas temps.
The stage 1 kit comes with a 80mm pulley to keep the boost from climbing to high. I guarantee you will get up to and over 450 crank HP no problem. The s4 is good up 450hp without any issues, beyond that things can get tricky. The biggest is the MAF, it's only good up to about 450, beyond it tuning gets a little weird.

LOL unfortunately my car is too modified to get real numbers.
So I have to wait on others to get information
The problem is Jeff that the other kits running 7.5-8PSI are seeing 400rwhp. There is no way that the rotrex can be that much more efficient so as to be able to generate 450rwhp with only 6 psi. Or at least no way that I can see it.
Lets look at it another way, lets say the vortech unit uses 45chp to generate the boost. Then lets say the rotrex used 15chp (likely uses closer to 40), that would only be an additional 30CHP, which in turn would be closer to 24 rwhp advantage. Then you look at the motor, it will make pretty much the same base power per PSI of boost (all things equal) regardless as to how it is put in. So I just cannot see a 50rwhp gain over a Murph kit, with possibly less PSI.......
AO,
Crank I can believe. But his sig states 481 RWHP
That is where the confusion takes place.

I've been in contact with Victor ("victor25") about arranging a group buy for his supercharger kit. Victor's website shows an 89 928 S4 with a Stage I kit on a dyno putting 480 hp to the wheels! Assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, that's roughly 565 hp at the crank!
He's currently charging $4995 for the complete kit (plus shipping; ~$50), which includes:
Rotrex Superchager,
Mounting bracket,
Belt,
tensioner,
matched 36lb injectors,
new fully assembled high quality lightweight braided fuel lines & connectors,
replacement drivers side fuel rail,
custom fueling chip, (Sharktuned chip)
black silicon hoses & connectors, (different colors available for more $)
aluminium pipes,
pressure release valve (bov),
K&N high flow filters with enclosed recirculating air system (Kuhn snout)
& some other odds and ends to complete the kit
See http://www.vcbengineering.com/ for more info.
A couple of other rennlisters have this kit and are so far very happy with it. The ease of install looks pretty remarkable, and it also comes back off pretty easily, too.
If we can get 5 buyers together, we're looking at 10% off ($4500). 8+ buyers = 15% off ($4250). Both plus shipping. I might also be able to cut the shipping costs if I'm the distributor.
If you're interested, please reply here or PM me.
Cheers,
Mike

Mike hi, please note that group buys must be approved by the admin. We usually prefer that an active RL sponsor handles the money.
Please PM Mr. Bob Rouleau in order to obtain clearance.

And..im sure one of your mules can 'ford a dyno pull.
Once I have this kit HW settled out, Im ready to drive up and see ya for a weekend.

This is why I send PEMs with the kits and not prepurned chips. Almost everyone has some sort of mod in there car. Sean has GT parts and intake spacers, Jeff has headers, Rob huge single exhaust, etc etc.... I cant give an exact number as every car is different. Is the Rotrex efficient Yes, will you get a crapload more HP, Yes. The Pems are loaded with a map for a stock car, with safe numbers. How far you take things after that are up to you. I am sure we will have dyno pulls from multiple people very soon. I gaurantee 450 min crank HP cuz it will always be reached!! And thats where a stock MAF hits 100%
