While browsing ebay I found a wood trim set for the 928. Just curious as to whether anybody has installed this trim and how it turned out,
The kit is described as follows:

I requested a sample of two colors over the summer and they sent them right out. It might be in my future but at this point it is way down the list. Please post pictures if you get them.

I've got the Jaeger synthetic wood in my '85 & the ebay synthetic wood in the '91. After about 5 yrs with both, the ebay trim is holding up just as good for half the price, but a set # of pieces come with their kit. Jaeger has it where you can pick and choose what you want & they have much more of a variety of color choices & types. Both have had some minor delamination the piece on the shifter plate. I have some pics, might take me a few days but I'll post some of each.

Nicole has the same product as Jaeger and is right here in USA. At one time they had "authentic woods" which I think might actually be wood (?). I put the kit in my car and it's pretty nice, a step up from the generic eBay grade kits based on what I've seen.

I used to think about wrapping pieces with synthetic wood myself, but then i got a decent job! Now i can afford a Jaeger or Hooked On Cars kit! I am still going to make my own door panels out of mahogany plywood, already made center console kick panels out of masonite, veneered with mahogany. Hopefully i can match the door panels to the center console panels, and the wood trim kit.

I have one of Nicole's kits in my car. I think it really sets off an all black interior and the fit and finish is very nice. I get compliments at the dealer and at cars and coffee events.

It's all a matter of personal preference. And if you get tired of it, you can remove it without trace.
Yes, we no longer offer the authentic woods; I wish they were still available. But some of the synthetics do look very real, and you don't have to worry about color variations, fading, or cracking of the wood layer when you bend it during installation.
The kits include 22 pieces, which are custom made for your car - we don't stock these kits, they are always made to order.
You can add additional pieces, if you like.
I've even had customers who didn't like the glossy finish, and wet sanded the pieces with super fine sand paper for a satin look.

Here's a few pics of our two cars with the synthetic wood trim. Much more variety of available pieces & colors with the Jaeger trim that Nicole sells. Like she said, you can remove it easily. In fact, on my '85, the top section with the ac vents I put it on with clear tape just rolled over to see what it looked like & it stayed for years like that. I took it off this spring for running in DE's. The round quartz clock on my '85 was also through Jaeger. They used to have multiple colors in their clocks, but some were discontinued. Not sure what they have now. It has kept great time & certainly updated the look from the stock digital clock. The brass & aluminum **** covers also came from Jaeger. So Nicole could get you anything you want that they have.
