Thanks, Chris for this great report. The reports about any issues always concern me and give me some insight to how my products may function, since I really don't have any way do do much extensive testing, but your kind of positive report sure makes it worth while and encourages me to continue trying to develop these sorts of items that can be found desirable and even useful.

Let me know if you discover any issue with these as time goes on.

I have tested them up to Vmax and they stayed in without anything holding them. However, whether they reduce the wind noise it is hard to tell.

I need to fix a little bit of windscreen trim and renew my door seals first.

I had bumped a couple of my other threads about the Spare Tire Covers and about the 928 Cowl Covers, Seals and Shell Stickers, with some success. At least some of you guys are looking out for yourselves this holiday season.

Here is my thread about the Windshield Trim Gap Filler Strips that seem to be "filling the gap" rather nicely. I hope some of you will see the desirability of having these along each side of your pre-91 928 windshiled.

That is a good solution, Jeremy, but I still think it would not be much af a big deal to simply change the metal WS trim pieces on each side of the WS to the earlier type that is correct for your car. They actually come off pretty easily. I don't have any idea how much good used ones might be, but check with Mark A. at 928 Int'l.

My Windshield Gap Filler Strips have been available now for about a year. They are easily installed in minutes and do not require any cutting or instalation with special materials such as soapy water. My Gap Fillers fill the entire gap from about an inch or more around the upper corners to the very bottom of the gap itself. They are held in simply by spring force.

My Gap Fillers are made from ABS Plastic and are suitable for every 928 from 1990 back. The gap fillers that the factory put in in 1990 can easily be removed to install these newer better designed Strips since all the factory used was some rubber tubing to fill up the gaps. The design in 1991 and later are better designed to fulfil this funtion and should not be removed to replace with my Strips.

My Gap Filler Strips are still $45 per pair and the S&H for Us is still $7.50.

Hi Jerry:

When Porsche introduced those gap fillers during the 1990 model year, they were made of some cheap foam material. It was not until some time during the 1991 model year that Porsche switched to the more dense and better shaped rubber material.

My early 1991 still came with the foam material, but I upgraded to the newer factory style eventually. It was pretty tricky to get the factory rubber gap fillers worked under the top windshield trim.

Just another positive report here. Popped these into my 89 in a few minutes last November and they have stayed put, filling in the gap well since then.

Just a suggestion for those ordering the Cowl Cover and Seal from out of the US--These Gap Filler Strips are $45 for the pair and can be included in the package with the Cover for no extra charge for the Shipping. (Or from anywhere, for that matter.)

I had run out of these Gap Filler Strips and had a whole new batch formed. The price was up a bit, but I am going to keep these at $45. The postage is up a bit also, but I will still send these by parcel post for the previous $12.50 stated.

I have had two or three reports of my Gap Filler Strips coming out while the car is at speed. I can't really tell why, but my theory is that the way they are made the spring-like pressure up and down when in place actually may give them a sort of reverse barb effect which, when in motion and with the normal vibrations associated with that, they may be able to work themselves out. I can't think of any way to guard against that except to strongly suggest that after you install these you look at them occasionally to be sure they are still fully in place. On the other hand, I am pretty sure that the pressure that they exert is not sufficient to break the windshield.

I had a cracked windshield from some previous rubber strips that I apparently didn't trim sufficiently. Well, I don't know that that is what caused it, but I'm paranoid that it might have been...if there's a chance these have ever popped out on their own, then I'm sure they're NOT putting too much pressure on the windshield glass, and if I don't have to trim them myself, perfect. I'll be paypaling you some money...
