Everyone remember that outside of the transmission breaking, the reason engine blocks break is from physical age of piece and wear-cycles or massive vibration or explosions - detonation and pre-ignition (different). This is why people build "forged" bottom ends, and we have better head gaskets, and people make different materials into piston pins, rod bearings, rods, and rings.
If the explosion happens when its supposed to, after TDC or at least when the piston is NOT going up still, you have the most important step in a controlled burn. How fast it burns, the flame-front, etc - can determine torque and other secondary issues.
Our block assemblies are massive and heavy. Why not see how far it will go. I am ready to do the same, but I can't create as much boost as Todd.

Daaamn! and I limit myself to 8-9 psi of boost and a meager 460 lb.ft/470 RWHP, because I am afraid to tear up the drive line. I like that traction control. How do you do that? My 1-st and 2-nd gear are pretty useless. I need to be very carefull in low gears.

Todd,
Thanks for the info. I am going to look into that traction control. And.....maybe just a little (but not as much as you) more boost after that. You did not change your CR, he?

You are describing two seperate things in this post. I'm going to take a guess that what you are trying to say is that: An an engine with more wear will fail faster.

I don't know how much it applies, but aluminum and iron behave differently under repeated stress cycles. Aluminum develops stress fractures, and I don't think iron does, so an aluminum part that is initially fine, after so many cycles fails.

Todd took me for a spin in this beast on Saturday. Words can not describe the sheer power or terror I felt when turbos spooled. The terror/power continued well after Todd let off the gas. It was truly a religious experience. A thrid gear roll from 60-160 in what must have been just a few seconds. My guess was 7 but I wasn't actually timing it. RETARDED. ABSOLUTELY RETARDED.
