Third Coast - What are you doing to your 928?
#18
I excel at slacking. I’m a pro.
I’d be seriously happy if I can have the car on four wheels and movable under its own power before your event. I guess if the planets, and work, align it might be possible. I’d need some seat time before I’d trust it to go that far though. After meeting some of the Texas folks at the OCIC, I know I have to make it to the 3rd Coast event. Hopefully this year!

You have a few months to plan it. Hell, as of now it looks like I can't make it so I'll at least be able to help mech wise if you get stuck.

Already done: new rear tires, new radiator with Greg Brown radiator oil cooler to air oil cooler hoses, Herman Koster headlight mod, repaired 3 oil leaks, new alternator, and belly pan mod.
Still to do: new front tires along with an alignment, fix the rear hatch lower liner, fix the rear hatch tint, replace seat switches, re-fasten LH side mirror glass, oil change and oil temp sender change and fix the last oil leak (drain plug), powder coat intake and cam covers along with water bridge and metal oil fill fixture.
Does it ever end? So much to do, so little time!

Anything you need to get the job done buddy, let us know. The trip is not all that far and if you end up getting stuck on the way there are many who would help.

I'm going to have my main bearing turned around, then general clean up, and recharge the AC. Check the car over for a bit, and go for a local shake down. Fix whatever I find that left over, and maybe buy a stereo for the car.

Try to put more parts on her than I take off.
Its running now so need to get the AC compressor back on, get the new belly pan installed, get new tires on the recently acquired phone dial rims, install the Rob Budd quarter panel covers I bought 6 months ago, finish the arm rest I am I am covering, fill the rear seat delete space and fix my bubbling paint on the rear drivers quarter fender.
Based on history many will likley see this car with much of that not finished yet!
I will be happy if I make it to my 3rd Third Coast event in my 928 for the first time!

My goal is to get my 993 wood steering wheel, airbag and clockspring installed and maybe even put back the belly pan? ...
BTW, if anyone wants to split a room Friday night, shoot me a PM. I told Hans I'd pick him up at the Austin airport Friday afternoon if he flies in, but he's posted recently that he may have his car ready and drive down instead ... if he doesn't fly, I could give Malcolm or anyone else a ride from Austin out to Marble Falls.

I will drive the GTS - needs lots of small stuff and belly pans fitted.
Zane will take the 87 Diamond Blue - needs a Sean check over
Bilal will take the 82 Weissach 5 speed - needs Sean to fix a few small things
Malcom will drive the 78 Cockney brown 5 speed or the Cashmere Brown 5 speed - both need blowing on by Sean

looks like we shouldn't be having anyone coming with t/b or w/b issues this trip.
Reminder -take a look at your radiator hoses - upper & lower - and make sure those are all good. or at the very least take some of that 'Magic' tape to seal up a leak - sorry i dont know what it's called. seems like every year somebody springs a rad hose leak....ah-hemmm /roger/.
jim - i love that you are having your cam covers & intake powder coated - that is going to be sharp! can't wait to see 'em.
what about tires? anybody getting new rims or powder coating theirs?

As I rush to go breath from a paperbag, I am going to try to convince myself this is not part of the 928 Addiction, but just the mother-hen in me, just wanting to make sure everyone gets there and has a good time....
.......Now I’m going to go put on a frilly dress, go treat myself to a mani and a pedi and then watch The Notebook.
That is - Right after I order Mike's Gaskets and take my car to the car wash.
