The passenger side hoist bracket is more complex, it lies in between the head and the Hall sensor cable bracket, and has a captive nut for the front-of-engine wiring harness. The hall sensor wiring is routed incorrectly in the pictures I show below, there's a good discussion of how things are supposed to go in the linked thread below.

FWIW, both hoist brackets are held on by a single M8 x 20 bolt.

Default eyelets

looking at the eyelets and that single bolt......can it support the engine? seems counterintuitive.....but i guess it works.

the reason i would want to stick by factory eyelets, is i saw an engine for sale where parts of the block were cracked, it looked to me that either a chain during a hoist cracked something and was wrapped around the block, or the engine was dropped.....

either way the eyelets are there for a reason, i assume supporting with tiestraps cant hurt as well around the bottom, but in addition to factory eyelets.

i will take you up on the loan offer, to minimize time of borrowing i will get to disconnecting everything first. thanks again for the loan offer much appreciated.

Lol speaking of the engine pics... anyone in Ontario Canada do cadmium plating? Have the health nannies outlawed cadmium?

Are you taking the engine out or are you lifting it to replace the motor mounts? For the latter use the bracket on the front of the engine, the one bolted to the water pump.

I pulled my motor from my 87 with the stock eyelets. Used the big S-Hooks from a set of tie downs and an leveler on my hoist and it went fine.

When I did my motor mounts I just supported the block from the bottom with a wood structure made from 4x4's.

Just to summarize....the eyelets on front passenger side and rear drivers side are not interchangeable?

It is hard to see from pics.... But I assume the shape of the eyelets are different....is that correct?

Slight correction....eyelets look the same but the bracket might be different and therefore not interchangeable?

The holes in the bracket are identically spaced (since the cylinder head castings are totally symmetrical and can be built up to be used on either side) but the the brackets themselves are mirror images of each other. Plus the additional U-shaped channel on the 1-4 side bracket for routing the FOE harness.
