The alpha won't work with boost.

And I do need to do a trip to the Netherlands anyways. I could add cams on that trip.

Colin I never thought of that. Is the TPS and a MAP the only tuning info with TBI intakes?

No probs..minor crap. Gotta find and reattach the tranny vac line (we lost it last night with MAF boot repair)..and swap the supercharger pulley..maybe.

And beer.

Uhh, that belt looks awfull. Wonder what happened....

You don't need larger valves with Stage II cams on S4. Larger valves will slow down the air velocity even more
and you only loose the bottom end torque and won't gain any extra hp.

Nice MAP setup, was that easy to tune and how is the idle? I have been wondering, what's the best place for MAP on stock intake...

I didn't replace the aluminum oil pump gear with the steel gear like I was suppose to 3 years ago.
The gear walked forward and shredded the belt.

ILL see what the flow bench test GB did say but I understand totally what you are saying and the reduction of velocity is true.
That is not the MAP, that is just an aluminum tube with a temp sensor where the MAF use to be.
I mounted the MAP here, see orange connector

Here it is under the flappy solenoid

notice no distributors

Running the aluminium oil pump gear didn't cause your failure. Plenty of 928's running the aluminium gear for over 100k miles without walking off like you experienced. (I removed the original one off my 89 at 152k miles)

I'd be carefully checking everything in the belt circuit to make sure it wasn't additional stress due to another failed component.. are the rollers running true, no pins bent, tensioner all there correctly etc.

Thanks Hilton, I will check everything very close to be sure, but I know that I did not loc-tight the nut when I torqued it and so I will take full blame. That said, it lasted 3 years from when I did the mains well the engine was in the car, so I must have been really close with the torque, just not close enough, and no Loc-tight.

If I had installed the steel gear, the torque on the nut "may" not have come loose.

Do not install 968 valves.
And yes this would be a perfect time to install a set of my cams.

Is this dog's breakfast something currently running or did it happen some time ago?

Either way interesting to know what valve damage [if any] occurred. Hopefully something in the past- gone but not forgotten.

Fred
