Default SharkBlade Performance Fan system - NLA?

Am I going crazy? I can't seem to find the SharkBlade Performance Fan system on the 928 specialist site... I can find the instructions, but I can't order it. Is it no longer available?

Until SPAL fixes the idiotic changes to their Dual Fan system I used to make those I will no longer sell it....at least using their fans.

Sometime in production they started using one sealed fan and one UNSEALED Fan in their Dual Fan assembly..and rated one of the fans (and therefore the assembly) to not be used in "dusty environments"...go figure.

Cheers,

Dave

In the mean time, how how about getting a pair of Ford Contour/Mercury Mytique fans. Do a little search on them. They are a very good fit.

I will add that I gave up on Spal fans as well. I had a DEVEK dual Spal fan setup. One fan failed after a year. Since then, all the replacement fans have had problems with the blade hub wobbling on the shaft and making a racket. The tolerance between the plastic blade hub and the shaft was too great. I had a supplier send me several new fans and they all wobbled out of the box. I tried to shim the shaft in various ways, but it would fail within a few months. And even when it worked, the over all cooling was not as good as the stock fans, now back on the car.

So do you guys think I should just go stock? The 928 motorsports fan set up is as problematic as sharkblade?

I have had a dual SPAL 11" on my 83 for a couple of years now, without any issues. The 11" kit is easier to install on a 16V than a 12", as it all fits within the radiator area. When I got them they were rated at 10,000hr life IIRC. They are straight blade fans. If I could get curved blade fans to fit I would be interested in trying them. Wonder how hard it would be to cut down 12" fans?
Note that there are people out there selling 16" high performance SPALs claiming high lifetimes and warrantee, but when you check the SPAL specs, they are only rated for racing, and carry NO warrantee.

reading some spal specs, the straight blade 11" dual moves 2700 cuft/min. A single 11" curved blade moves ~1450 cuft/min (based on converting ***/hr to cuft/min) or ~100 cuft/min more than a single 11" staright blade...not a lot in it.

yeh mine packed up after about 6 months of usage. I had to replace the motor with the sealed version.
They fit really well, and make working on the front end of the car way easier as they just pop in and out. But I do feel a little cheated that they did something silly like that...

PS They've been great since then and I'll be looking for another set for the GTS, maybe not a SPAL set though...

i wanted the SPAL set up so i even called/emailed their tech dept to see about getting TWO sealed fans. basicly told, NO> you would have to buy the second fan your self. SOOOO dumb.

i got the Dorman Contour fan set up, and im running a progressive controller from Delta Current Controls. i have the 928MS rad, and this fan fits so perfect, only 1/8 inch at the bottom is not covered.

How do I order up parts for this setup? One of mine is rattling because the pin snapped. I replaced it with what I had but the fit isn't great. My stock assembly was smashed to pieces and I REALLY like the space it frees up under the hood.

Contact SPAL USA and tell them you want the part number for the replacement SEALED fan from Fan Assembly # 30102130 ... then do a Google search for that part number for a MUCH better price than SPAL will sell it to you for.

I have found if you call these guys they will give you the best price for SPAL products. http://www.universalpartsinc.com/

Hope that helps,
