Rear Hatch Louvers

Hmmm, I knew I should have gone with the first version of my post, which said that I'm not aware of any vendor that has ever offered rear louvers for a 928, nor have I ever seen a 928 with louvers. Instead, I tossed out the flippant remark with the little winky emoticon to indicate that I was kidding.
I usually manage to delete flippant remarks before hitting submit, 'cause this is a technical forum and crapping up threads with flippancy leads to trainwrecks like this, which are bad for civility and for the S/N ratio. So I need to apologize for setting the thread off on the wrong course. If you want to have louvers on your car, by all means, make 'em (or get 'em made), mount them up, and enjoy. It is YOUR car, and it's still sort of a free country...

Now I got it. If one agrees with you, he/she is a "free thinker". If one does not share the same taste with you, then he/she is just another troll. Last time I checked the internet rules, they were written in blood that one should expect agreements and disagreements solicited or not. If one can't chug it, don't post.
I was not turned off by that butt-ugly louvers but by your attitude.

Hey Rob.. I bet Dan would *love* louvres on his car. You should probably just go ahead and install some as a pleasant surprise

does that mean no lurking? lol.... Jim: Go for it!! I like to see this happen! BUT, I agree you can't just slap on any louvers. Like someone said in an earlier post, your going to have to find a good fabricator willing to do it and at a reasonable price... but more importantly do it right ($$). The photo was a bad example, thus the neg fback for sure... You never know tho', things do make a comeback, lol. (not)
I had a 70 fastback as my first car, identical to this minus wheels and, you get the idea ...
I always loved my louvers on my Mustang!!! ...and when I got my 928, I notice the similarities of the rear window hatch similar to my old Mach 1 and thought about louvers, heck they both even had 'similar' rear spoilers. But it was just a thought. My opinion was whatever louvers was going to be on my car, it would have to be custom fabricated, possibly from ?. And the key word for the 928 was it has to be "Subtle", subtle as possible. Look into that link mentioning the louvers, maybe he can do something with your car:
But then again, it going to costs you a pretty penny to have one made, which I hope won't deter you, but it just might....

Wow, who would've thought this thread would go 5 pages already.
Don't think louvers are a great look for a 928, but the practical benefits are clear.
Anybody thought about internal louvers? I have seen these in the past, but can't think where or what application it was. For some reason I'm thinking it was in Japan in a big Toyota Crown back in the 70's, but I could be mistaken. But I have seen them somewhere.
Think fixed venetian blinds inside the rear window. Don't see them from the outside, but still get the shading effect inside.
