Default "Lizard" Short Shift Kit!!!!

Just installed yesterday, awesome product. Well made and easy to install. I did it with the center console in place. Buy it from Roger at 928srus

Just need to remove the existing shifter boot and other bits and measure out then drill and install. If you remember my previous post about my shifter issue you'll see my main reason for this.

Along that line I was shoving the front shifter out of the way but i was almost able to pull it all the way out toward the rear of the car. How long is that anyway as I didn't want to get to the point of no return and being stock in the way?

A couple notes on the "Lizard" shifter components; I painted the main shifter mount red to match my car (it was bare steel), maybe a couple rubber washers to isolate the vibrations or "hardness". Awesome product and the shifting is so short and fast.

Took ~1-1/2 hours to install between getting everything apart and having to jump in/out of the car for tools.

Curt,

Glad your little "shifting" of my '89 with the Lizard shifter at the Glen in June intrigued you. After 3 months installed, I still marvel at how precise it is.

See ya' at the Glen again in October.

There's a support bracket with a rubber bushing that holds the front shift rod that will not allow the rod to come out (with the ball cup attached). I was able to unscrew the front ball cup and pull the rod out through the inside of the car (with a a little leverage/bending). Others have just run to tie wraps around the torque tube and the shifter rod tieing it down and leaving it in place.

Get some new bushings for the rear coupler and it will be even more precise.

Sorry for got to mention, Before I started this adventure, I replaced the rear coupler with a new one. I do have the original with a new set of Delrin bushings that I'll probably either sell or assemble and then sell. Anyone interested?

How is this different from the short shift kit available from 928 Intl?

Do a search for Lizard shifter, then look at the video of installation and usage by Jadz928. That clearly shows how different and how precise it is.

To answer a few PM's I have received, this shifter is only available though 928srus (ROG100) 817-430-2688

And this shifter is a completely different ball game from the 928intl short shifter. Mine eliminates the front shift rod which has two bushings on it, both of which are prone to failure. One of the bushings requires the removal of the torque tube to be able to replace.

I put mine in two years ago along with bronze impregnated rear coupler bearings. It takes a little more effort to shift but it't not even slightly "vague". Snick, snick, snick gear changes is the best way to dsescribe the feel.
