Lightbulb 89 GT for sale $17K

Posting this for a friend who is not on Rennlist. He has an 89GT that he needs to sell before a transfer to Hong Kong in October. I've driven the car and it's strong even for a GT. Maintenance is up to date on everything. No affiliation other than the friendship. Car is in DFW so if anyone wants a PPI Sean Ratts would be the guy to call. Pictures to follow.

The Good:
Interior, all Black upholstery is soft, no tears with minor wear on the driver's seat welting, probably an 8 or 9. Momo steering wheel or the stock wheel is available. White exterior, paint is a 7 or 8, with a body color painted rear spoiler. A good detailing would bring it up to a 9 IMHO.
Top end refresh done at 78,500 miles with red powder coated intake and cam covers, with intake spacers, cam belt and water pump done at the same time. Current mileage is 90,150. John Speake overhauled LH computer. Nology ignition wires distributor caps and rotors. New Behr radiator, new clutch, pressure plate and pilot bearing, X-Pipe and RMB.
New cast hole rotors front and rear, with rebuilt calipers, new pads, Aeroquip brake hoses. Boxter twist wheels 17x8" and 10". Koni interior adjustable shocks, IIRC Ott sway bar links. Shifter ball cup recently replaced. New CV Joints on the rear axles, new factory window moldings.

The Bad:

The car has a salvage title.

Can you legally own a 1989 Gt and NOT be a member of rennlist?

What does that mean

He's making a left handed complement to those without the GTS. However, the GT has the same 1/4 mile trap, and same 0-60 time(or was it top speed?) as the GTS.

$17 seems kind of dear for a salvage titled car, no matter how nice.

while it sounds like a nice car.....I also think the salvage title will hurt it big time......$17k for that car with clear title would sell VERY fast......with the salvage title I think it will take a while to sell

It's a 89GT... you don't ask questions...you just get it....
If given a chance to drive a 89GT...don't ask questions... just drive it... You don't know until you've driven a 89GT..it's like no other 928 out there..... Just remember...if you do get a chance to see/feel/touch/drive a 89GT...you won't be able to go back to your 928 without feeling as if you are now missing something..... the 89GT is what Porsche intended the 928 to be....

LOL...yea..I'm a bit biased

$17 may be high considering there is a SC 85 for $11

It looks not to bad may be worth every penny. just looks like it needs to be cleaned up a bit. Very nice but white is not a color that I like. I know a few on here do though so it should sell.

If you plan on owning it forever, I don't see a problem with the Salvage title. Looks like a lot of car for that money.

I just finished a case involving Diminished Value resulting from a wreck where the damage was repaired, but it was found that the vehicle had a previous salvage title in its history. Both of the Expert Witnesses were of the opinion that the previous Salvage title not only reduced the actual cash value of the vehicle by HALF, but after the salvage title got in the history the vehicle could no longer suffer dimished value.

I didn't get to express my opinion about that, so I guess the result is that the age and miles can keep reducing the value, but not subsequent damage history.

So, I think the result is to value the vehicle based on its age, miles and overall condition, then divide by two if there is a slavage title in the history.
