Reacquired 928 S4
Greetings fellow 928 enthusiasts,
Recently re-aquired my late father's white 1990 928 S4 (auto) and have sent her to the garage to do some wiring and mechanical checks prior to its service. The interior is black leather with red piping and when I popped the hood open, I noticed there were a few parts missing. Hence will be doing a parts purchases very soon.
This car has some sentimental value as I saw it a local car sale and when I opened the door, a surge of emotions trickled through me when I spent many summers with it back in the 90's. As a result, I raced back home to get my cheque book and returned to purchase it there and then.
I have since then been reading the forum and tried to catch up with up to date information on things to look out for, and I thank all in the forum who have posted their experiences and advices.
As a result, as many car enthusiasts would do, searched for body kits and wheels for the beauty. Got in touch with Strosek on the Ultra body kit and unfortunately their warehouse got burnt down along with most of their goods. Will be searching high and low for this kit. I have recently got in touch with the folks from HRE and they have provided a range to choose from. Will definitely have to digest these wheels and make a decision in the coming weeks.
I look forward to learn from you and your experiences on the 928 and would be grateful if anyone could point to the right direction where I would be able to find the Strosek Ultra body kit (wide).
I know this post would be worthless without any pictures, hence have a glance at the image I attach this post with and apologies for the poor capture from my iPhone.
I'll be visiting the garage tomorrow to take a few more pictures and check up on the car.
Cheers!

Nice car, forget about body kits. Would spend some time and money to get it technically sorted first, after all it's a 25 years old car.
Do a search on the forum here for most important things, e.g. Timing belt, water pump, tbf check, fuel lines, etc.
Cheers

Nice car, and I kind of get where you're coming from by buying your fathers old car. It's the kind of thing I would do. I hate to cramp your style, but don't ruin a good looking design by throwing a body kit or ugly set of aftermarket wheels on it. Porsche had the idea when they built it. Those huge plastic spoilers on the front or rear just take away from its beauty.

Welcome and congrats on the car, it's good looking as is.

A number of the strosek bits were on german ebay a few weeks ago.
Looks like a very nice example, congratulations on relocating it and bringing part of your family history back home.
To each his own- were it my the body kit would consiste of aero mirrors and maybe wheels/tires, there's likely quite a bit else to invest in and ways to make it your own that don't so completely deviate from the design. A supercharger, for example....
Welcome to the forum, I dig the occasional pics and vids from other parts of the planet.

Here's another vote for "not buying a bodykit."
Remember you have a 25 year old car (like me). :-)
Spend the money on changing fuel lines, power steering lines, rebuilding the LH unit, etc. Such things need to be done. Some are even serious fire hazards, while others are only serious reliability issues. In any case, they will affect your enjoyment of such a fine car much more than bodykits...
BTW, welcome to the group here too! :-)

There's a couple of other members in Brunei here on Rennlist including a super-low miles GTS. You should hook up with them, it'll help you avoid poor mechanics and high parts costs.
THe starters of these two threads are both in Brunei and visit this forum regularly - send them a PM

First thing should be to change the fuel lines.

That license plate reminds me of the one on the Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger. Nice car...always nice to reacquire a car with sentimental value. I agree with the others, don't screw it up with a body kit.

Welcome Yaz!
As far as wheels go, one of the best options are 18" Panamera "take offs." At 18x8" ET59 front and 18x9" ET52 rear they bolt right up with 235/40 front and 265/35 rear tires. Almost perfect offsets for the 928 and they can be had quite inexpensively (at least here in the States). I paid $500 for a set of 5 spoke Panameras and $800 for a set of 10 spoke Panamera S wheels.
Congratulations on re-acquiring your Father's car. I drove a 1933 Franklin Olympic Convertible Coupe for about 10 years that my Father had owned and restored.

The only 928 I'd put a body kit on is a beater for $3K and certainly not a sentimental buy. Keep it like your Dad had it, and smile with him while you're cruising in it...

All,
Thank you for your comments especially on NOT to install any form of body kit. I totally agree that by installing one on the S4, it will take away its classic charm. That I will take home. However, still may want to update the wheels!
But anyways, I'm sure there are a lot more stuff to replace and update under the hood!
Will keep you lot posted.. heading out to the garage this afternoon..

Looks very shiny and unmarked! I would keep it that way and enjoy it as is after taking care of missing parts and maintenance. Black leather with red piping - give us some interior shots!
