Default Wish this happened on a friday

Dropped my radiator off yesterday at a reputable shop for an end tank replacement on both sides, however they ran into a slight problem.. some type of glue was on the threads of the tranny cooler and they wound up shearing the piece clean off of the cooler. wished they had time to start on it yesterday, at least then i would have had a replacement today from mark.

I plan on ordering a used one from intl on monday unless someone has one lying around here in socal (with the outer nuts). 83-86 cooler (928 307 029 00).

Thanks,
Jonathan.

I'm pretty sure Roger rebuilds those - drop him a note.

We do not have the radiator coolers - wish we did - sorry.
We do sell the plastic end caps though.

Ah, right - I was thinking of the oil cooler.

Unfortunately that trans cooler is not available as a separate item - it does not have a separate Porsche part number - and neither do the o-rings.

Those nuts are put on with Loctitie. Scary that they radiator shop didn't know to heat them, to remove them.

Anyway, I've got a growing stack of these things, from old radiators, if 928 doesn't have one separate from a complete used radiator.

So that's what the internal radiator/coolers actually look like. Pretty small.

Yep. Had a look through my pdf of the WSM this morning and didnt notice any mention of the end tank coolers. is there a technical bulletin or some documentation that suggests that the coolers come stock with loctite or that it needs to be heated first? i need something in writing if possible to make sure the shop i took it to covers the part due to incorrect dissasembly. They claimed that this isnt normal.

Thanks,
Jonathan.

No plans for that. I'm on "restriction" from Mary, since I hurt my back.

If I go by the shop, I'll set a cooler outside, by the front door, and let you know.

Not trying to steal this thread, but I ordered a new radiator from Behr, for my 89 S4. Are the old cores replaceable? There aren't any shops here in Vegas that will work on one of our radiators.
