Default New Tool

Last week I spent a couple of hours setting up the front coils on the 78 with the new height adjusters. Everything looked good until I went to mount them on the car. At that point I discovered the adjusters were upside down. I have done this job a number of times but you know there is always something to slip up.

It is about an hour struggling with the clamps to change a spring and after a while the threads wear and the clamps need to be replaced. There there is always the chance the clamps will slip. Unless you use tape on the springs the paint gets messed up.

The solution - a Hydraulic spring compressor.

No set up time and two minutes later the shock is apart. Much saver and easier to use.

Those in the SF Bay Area you are welcome to come by and use the compressor.

I also have some sets of bilstein, koni and the boge red shocks I willing to sell.

Cool, thanks for posting this. I've been looking for something like this since I have my 928 rears to do, and my daily driver is in need of a little R&R in the suspension department too.

Dan:

Thanks for the offer. I've got a new set of Bilsteins waiting to go on my '89, so I may take you up on it.

used one of these at the mm/opg party. needless to say i was thoroughly impressed with how easy it made shock assembly. (most time consuming part was hammering in those dust covers on the fronts and dust cover rings on the rear)

Ive got that model. It's been used twice.

The arms on it are all twisted and can't safely be used anymore.

Maybe the arms are thicker or a better metal than 5yrs ago.
