Well, today I went to the guy and told him about the situation. He said I was wrong and there was no wind blowing blaw blaw blaw. I showed him the car and he said, I don't see anything wrong and that I'm trying to pull fast one on him. I didn't even ask for money, all I said was just tell me when your going to do it again so I can move my car or do the painting in an area with no cars around. Anyways I told the managers, because I got really upset. It was obvious that he knew what he was doing, just didn't give a sh*t.
I already started cleaning the car using road tar remover with a quick wash at a car wash. Its removing most of it. I will do the left overs with claybar I bought yesterday. With WD-40 it takes a lot of rubbing, so end up using the road tar remover. The over spray is stuck on there good.

No way in hell would I use lacquer thinner for this - maybe paint thinner (turpentine).

Clay bar the guy right in the dentures... I have problems in these situations. I take extreme stupidity like this very personally. Because I ask myself, how is it possible for someone to be so stupid? Nope... must have been on purpose... If this guy had got a pop on the nose every time he did crap like this in 70 years... he might actually think of other people first.

Anyway, enough rage ramble... Some idiot where I worked asked to borrow a spray bomb for his Halloween costume's fake axe. Unbeknownst to me, the idiot painted it in front of my bright red Dodge Dakota R/T (it's for work, I swear...lol). And then after he finished thinking of himself he pissed off with his axe and left the spray bomb (silver) right in front of my truck's front tire. I came out having to do a quick run and BANG! The whole damn can blew up and when I stopped to see what happened one side of my truck was pretty much silver. I drove to a hand wash place and they all jumped on it with varsol (Paint thinner - NOT LACQUER THINNER!). It worked, but it took a long time. Meanwhile I phoned my workmates and told them to find the idiot with the axe and tell him the bill is $150.00

Just to show what type of douche this guy was, when I went for the money, he says " Do you want it in cash, or coke?"

There was a Honda civic parked on the other side of the van right next to it like my car on the other side. That one got over spray on it too as well as another car next to the Honda. Most of it got on my car since wind was blowing towards it...

I guess there are 70 year old ignorant ****** just like any other age group. I would consider a certified letter documenting your problem with a warning to avoid any future similar incident. A repeat would then probably involve malicious neglect and improve your liability claim status, or likelihood of satisfaction.
Sorry for your situation, the Zonester's idea is sounding decent, maybe not. Maybe wait 2 months.

Clay bar is risk free as compared to using other solvent based chemicals, plus you will be taking off any other contaminants on the paint surface before this happened, it will take you more elbow grease but at the benefit of a shinier car at the end.

I Just finished all the glasses today with a special glass cleaning cream. Front head lights side mirrors, side, front and back glasses. Tomorrow I will work on the paint with a clay bar.

You guys are pretty tough on us old, senile, blind guys. Most of us are not toothless.

Not being able to see the extent of the actual problem may slightly change my mind on this but if you notice that the two painters have said to use lacquer thinners, I think you should take that onboard.

The paint job I did would have cost around $20K and it would worry me in the slightest tip a litre tin of laquer thinners over the paintwork and then wipe it down.

The only place that you will damage is the plastic beading between the bar and body if the liquid gets it the joint. It will probably temporarily swell up and i also mentioned dont get thinner on the black powder coat. You can't damage good (aged) paint work with thinners unless you soak the paintwork for lengthy periods.

I hope the lister has fixed the problem and may have killed two birds with one stone, I.e removed the problem and polished the car at once but if there was a lot of foreign matter on the paintwork the method employed is the hard way of doing things.

I had overspray from house painting on a car once; detailers fixed it with clay bar, not thinners. I would be wary of using thinners on single-stage (i.e. 928 red).

Put some sugar in his gas tank if you can his van will be out of the picture
