Default New Product: HID Headlamp Kits for the 928

Two Years in the Making: Getting a quality HID headlamp kit together for the Porsche® 928 has been quite a challenge. Usually the wires were not long enough or the kit was not designed for cars like ours where the headlamps move up and down. Then the ballasts were too big, or too unreliable. But we have an excellent manufacturer now, and have been able to put together a quality kit that installs and performs right on your 928.

Not Xenon, True HID: Almost twice as bright as Xenon, and a brighter (8000 deg K) white light. See the pictures below. And our kit uses a movable bulb.... not Halogen for the low beams and HID just for the high beams. NO! True HID headlamps in both High and Low beam positions.

Quality: We specified AC (not DC) ballasts for flicker-free performance on these kits. Our special Slim-Ballasts are encased in aluminum and sealed against the weather. All fittings are Weather-Pak sealed and water proof. Wiring is silicone jacketed and loomed too.

Lower Amp Draw: A set of high-output HID bulbs draws about 35 amps on high beam - much less than typical 100 watt Halogens and even the stock bulbs. The result is more power available for the rest of your electrical system and less drain on your battery and alternator.

Compatible with the 928 Warning Systems: Tested on 928s so we know that you wont be getting any funny error messages on your instrument cluster or headlamp warnings! I've been driving mine around for 2 months now and am really impressed. I'll never go back!

Warranty: This kit comes with a 1 year warranty from our supplier in Canada. If the ballast ever fails - you don't have to send it in! All we want is a photo of your ballast showing the wires have been cut (rendering it useless) and they will send you another ballast free of charge.

Installation: Comes with generic installation instructions from the manufacturer, and Porsche® 928-specific installation instructions from 928 Motorsports. Can be installed by the average owner in just an afternoon. No holes need to be drilled - so this kit is completely reversible and car can be put back to stock at anytime if you wish. You will not cut nor splice into any wiring to get this installed!

Protect your Valuable 928: Over-driving your headlamps is so easy to do. Once you have these installed, you will look forward to driving your 928 at night like never before!

I have 10 of these kits in stock for H5 (US Standard) and a few for H4 (European Standard) equipped cars right now. I negotiated not only a good warranty for you, but a good price too. I know there are "cheapos" on eBay that can be had, but I also know the poor quality and the short wire lengths will not lend themselves to a 928. This is a quality kit and it has the lengths required to satisfy the 928.

If you don't know whether your 928 has H4 or H5 headlamps, you can look at the bulb!

Compare to this photo for identification so you order the right model.

Not too impressed with the HID beam pattern. Notice the trees way off the pavement. You can get the same result by using the halogen high beams.

Best solution with H5's is Silverstar Ultra (or Silverstar zXe zeon) bulbs and proper aiming. H5 provide better beam pattern than H4 for city driving where potholes are a common problem.

You missed the part about much lower voltage and I'm sure much brighter.

What if country driving is the main priority? H4's preferred?

Love that Green, Dean! Very bold and unique. sharp!

Don't worry about stock on hand... I get them in about 4 days from the day I order.

I picked up a setup like this off Ebay a year or so ago, for the popup headlights. They were hella bright, great upgrade. They were so bright, in fact, that I had to use my high beams as my low beams most of the time. So, since the low beams, now brighter, do not dim with this setup, they would be off most of the time. The po-po questioned me a few times about this, thinking I had lights out. Did I not have these installed properly, seems hard to mess up the wiring of these, or is there an additional hack to enable dimming?

Also, I initially installed the ballasts in the fender, but they quickly succumbed to the weather, but I was able to put everything under the headlight bucket and I don't think the extra weight puts any strain on the popup motor, but I could be wrong.

35 Amps? Or 35 Watts? 35 Amps doesn't tell us much about lower power draw unless it's at like 1.5 Volts... and you would still need some pretty heavy wire for that.

Also, I thought HID lamps required matching lenses for appropriate beam pattern? Does this kit include such lenses?

If you have the 7" sealed beam headlights - we can still help!
This kit will get you to H4 bulbs, and then you can go the next step to the H4 HID kit too!
