Hi guys, great to hear there has been a result here. I hope I am not hijacking the thread to ask a similar question for a different car.

PorKen, you said:

What if it does take until after the 4mph system-check? Do things get way more complicated?

Yeah, I have the 4mph system check error for ABS as well. I've only checked grounds so far.

I get that speed check error, as well as a perpetual pad sensor light, despite having lots of life left in the actual pads. It turned out the bracket which holds that ceramic connector thing broke, allowing the wires going to the pad sensor and ABS sensor to get pinched in the suspension and break. I have the parts to fix it, but cursory look wasn't obvious and I didn't have the car lifted, so I haven't done it yet. Of course, I don't know that that's the only issue there...

From Stan:

from your info you have a bad sensor or ground wire or bad connector connection\,
check the grounds in the spare tire well ,
and clean all of the sensors and wire connections,
inspect/test the ground wires in the barrels,
use deoxit 100 on all connections

Thanks Luc - that should get me started (but with an impending intake refresh it will take a while).

Hey Luc

I'm having same issue: ABS light on without moving. I cleaned the CE panel and when I put it back that's when it started. I have checked the CE fuse 16 and put a new ABS relay in the CE panel...it didn't fix the issue but my volt gauge is a lot happier...

Question I had is about the connector in your picture...I think your car is an '88, mine is early '86...does anyone know if that same plug is in my car? I'm wondering if somehow I messed it up putting the CE panel back in. After the refresh car runs better and everything is great except ABS light on now....

Any thoughts appreciated...have not checked the relays at the pump...I am thinking it has to be something to do when I R/R the CE panel...since directly after putting it back in was when it started...
