# 16, I thought the valve also helped reduce drainback from lines and cooler. I guess I'm wrong. I have seen anti drainback valves in lines on other transmissions, I guess its not applicable here.

Yes, that is the check ball for the "bottom filler" extention tube, so that you don't have to fill the transmission through that silly cap. You can screw the "cap" (#17) off, attach a filler nozzle and pump in whatever you want. The check ball is there (sometimes....however many people loose the ball) so you don't get "drowned" when you remove your filling device.

It's very handy.
