FS: 1988 S4 5-Speed, LSD Car. "Driver" grade
SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!
Well, we have discussed this in another thread. I am moving and need to sell it. I have been cramming parts and money into it, like it's a call girl, and it still won't give me a break. I really NEED a break. I am moving to Florida next month. I have a gaggle of cars I have to sell, so I am not paying tax in Florida and hauling them. I don't have time to play with it anymore. Let's get to the two important issues. If you can get past them, then read on about the good, and we can deal.
1) THIS IS AN "R" title car from a tree limb hit during a windstorm in 2004. Limb strike was rear\topical. Rear hatch, glass, spoiler and quarter damage exceeded value. The owner at the time had it for 18 years, and owned a body shop. He took the car and fixed it at his shop. Verified. Names, dates and addresses available. ALL serial numbers are prominent on all panels in the front, and all match, including doors. Rear hatch SN does not match. Rear quarter passenger is replaced. Car is straight as an arrow. NEVER an MVA, flood, or theft.
2) Clutch started slipping on me the other day. Very minimally, in higher gears, usually during low speed in high gear accels. I can fix it before delivery(been on the phone with Rog about parts), or we can work something out on price and you can do it. I am still driving the car. It is sitting at work today. Runs and sounds wonderful. I am driving her to the local Porsche meet tonight. I will post a video of it starting, idling and driving when I get time this weekend.
Ok, so here's the advert....
1988 Porsche 928 S4, 108,500 miles. 5-Speed Manual car, 220 LSD. Short shift. California delivered car, until 2011. Red with Black interior. typical dash cracking in top covering of dash and pod covering. Seats are excellent condition, with perfect seat bolsters. Carpet is in nice condition, with original Porsche floor mats. Door panels are excellent condition. Console needs re-glued on edges. Rear center console needs re-wrapped.
Rear Air option.
Cruise control (works well).
12-way power seats option. Both sides.
Momo Thunder Steering Wheel.
Updated Turbo Twist wheels.
Tires are all matching, brand new Raptor tires. Installed and balanced in May of 2012.
Rear Muffler Bypass. (Excellent throaty rumble, sounds great through full acceleration and has no cabin drone on highway). Stainless dual tips.
Timing belt performed by Michael Stead Porsche of Northern California in July, 2009 at 95,000 miles with all rollers, tensioners and water pump. Re-checked and adjusted by dealer within 30 days. Re-checked in 2010, 2011 and 2012. (With Invoice from Porsche dealer to prove VIN, mileage and date of service.)
All new fuel hoses installed in March 2012, as prescribed for these cars at this age. Front fuel rail hose is factory Porsche part. The rear “U” hoses are the updated, braided style hose from 928’s R Us.
Both distributor caps, rotors and Bosch plug wires, with Beru S5 plugs installed May 28, 2012.
New fuel tank seals. Filler neck seal, at cap. New fuel cap(non matching key).
Electrical Ground points cleaned as prescribed for these cars.
Car Fax shows 2004 wind damage accident, but also indicates 18 years of verifiable routine maintenance and repairs at certified Porsche dealer.
Power windows both function. (Stiff passenger window switch)
Power sunroof functions (stiff open position on switch, but works well and I use it daily)
Rear wiper functions well.
Rear hatch release buttons work both sides, but may need latch adjustment, as it intermittently unlocks.
Central locking works with key, but dash button is non-responsive. Both doors activate with key, and unlock the other door, automatically.
Basic Clarion single CD head unit, with no audio upgrades, whatsoever.
Previous owner indicated that he converted A\C from R12 to R134a and replaced compressor with $1000 replacement. However, car is suddenly blowing warm again. All fans works on all speed settings. Rear air fans work well, also.
All dash gauges work normally. Digital factory clock is “blown”.
Headlights pop-up and retract evenly, and smoothly.
Maintenance records within the last 3 years alone, total nearly $4000.
Let's talk. More pics at http://porsche928s.com/images

I have responded to all of your PM's, so far. Thanks. The easiest way to get ahold of me is to send email at: chris@vadministrator.com. Identify yourself as Rennlist and I will gladly give you my cell number and you can pick my brain about it, ask for detailed photos, or video, etc.

Randy. I agree. I left the sunroof open and got those little white leafs that come off of Lilac bushes in my car. I knew someone would say something, and I deserve it.

Price drop to $8500, as is, for Rennlisters, before attempting an E-Bay sale next week. Just got a solid job offer out of West Palm Beach, and will be traveling soon.

It may not be show grade but I think that car is just a step above driver grade. IMHO. If I had just a little more cash around right now. Time to go to the store and try for a Pick 5 tonight.
