Default Long Island GTG June 3 8AM-11AM then drive back west.

Hi Folks,

We will have our first Get Together on Sunday, June 3 from 8AM-11AM, Weather permitting. We will follow that with a drive West on Sunrise Hwy. (27) continuing onto the Southern State and up Bethpage Parkway to my house in Plainview for BBQ for anyone who would like to join or can't make it to the Hamptons.

My friend has graciously let us use a parking lot at a shopping center he owns:

670 Montauk Hwy
Water Mill, NY 11976

The center is on the left about 15 minutes (7 miles) from where 27 becomes a local road. Cops will be out. Be sure to be careful!

Please park in the very last row at the back.

My cell: (516) 330-7987

He will happily post this to "Dan's Papers" the local Hamptons paper if we want people to come look at the cars. Perhaps we'll get some local 928 owners in the Hamptons to pop up-who knows!

Not sure about bathrooms out there; there are a few stores/restaurants. There are some gas stations on the way in either direction.

Thanks!

Michael

Damn this is right in my backyard! But unfortunately I'll be at SITM. Next time though (if I make it back)

This will be SITH--Sharks in the Hamptons!

The good news is this is our Milk Run. We'll have more and this space will be available to us throughout the summer and fall.

If the car is ready I'll probably roll out of Plainview around 6:30AM. Should be there by 8AM.

Anyone who wants beer or booze please BYOB. I'll bring the burgers and dogs and other meats.

Definitely easier to caravan. It's a straight shot and it should be quiet on a Sunday AM. Just have to watch for our friends with lights and guns!

That is also a good 2 hrs from me too.

Alexie, if you change your mind, I could meet you where the BQE connects to LIE at Maurice ave and we could caravan to and back. I'm a bit on the fence to, but if others want to caravan my arm might be twisted enough to make the trek.

I'll be honest, I'm a bit confused about the choice of place. Did I miss something, but why Hamptons? It's a 2+ hours of drive for pretty much everyone (yes Mike, even you from Plainview will need to drive more then hour and a half). With only 5-6 guys on expected to show up - we can stop at any mall with a coffee shop and no one will object as long as we don't make noise. No need to arrange for special parking or pay for anything.

I say let's move it to a more accessible place

Not realizing a bunch of folks were going to SITM, there are a number of members (I have the OC member list) in the Hamptons/Eastern Suffolk area. We aren't paying for the lot, this is a favor from a close friend.

Any public parks involve pay which is why OBI is the meet up spot.

We have to start somewhere. I will gladly move this location to a May 10 meet-up (since many more people have said they will be available, especially out east) if someone can make a suggestion and do the legwork to make sure we can meet at another location on June 3. The BBQ is still at my house afterwards.

You said let's try Floyd Bennett Field and that is a good location because it is a National Park and there are no restrictions on parking or fees. However that is a 3 hour drive for members in Center Moriches.

Well... As the member from Center Moriches I'll try to make it to wherever the get together is. But I sure liked the idea of meeting in Water Mill. But if that's too far East for some members, what about a State Park like Hecksher, Captree or Sunken Meadow. Captree has a coffee shop and there is always plenty of empty parking at the East side of the lot. I think Sunken Meadow has a coffee shop too. Let me know what you guys think.

I am good with Captree and meeting for coffee. It says they charge a parking fee of $8 (I don't care one way or another but other might). Is that in effect all the time? I still will host a BBQ for anyone who wants to come (just need a head count for food and any dietary restrictions).

I'd like to do a Watermill meet on June 10 or 17.

Thanks!

Michael

I think all the State Parks will have the parking fee. If that doesn't work for some, I'm still open to Watermill or any other ideas. Just let me know what the concensus is and I'll be there. June 10th works for me for Watermill, but the 17th is Father's Day and I'll be busy.
Thanks,
Scott
