I remember seeing photos on this list of someone replacing the flexible portion of the high pressure AC hose with the metal tube still in the car. Search has not been my friend today as I have tried a number of different searches and have not found the photos or the process.
The hose in question is on the high pressure side (as previously noted) and the tube runs from the hose to the fuel cooler. I understand it can be removed on cars that do not have the rear AC, by removing the bolts in the motor mounts and lifting the engine as high as possible.....hence the interest in replacing the hose in the car. I did put this tube and hose in the car following that process, it is a process I would prefer to avoid reversing if possible....not easily done... I was thinking of the low pressure side, have been able to remove the high pressure tube (no rear AC) and will take the tube and hose to AC place to have the hose reworked.......false alarm from me, who should know better....
I think I remember the process i am looking for requires brazing on a piece to affix the new hose ? It may have been Sean R that showed this process, maybe not. Can anyone direct me to the thread?

I'm not sure how to give you the "direct link" to the thread, but if you enter "Two Valve Update/Freshen" into your search, you will find pictures of what I do to repair this hose. I think the pictures are somwhere around post #207.

Yes, we do them in the car, most of the time. Just need to remove the C/D unit and the air pump filter....whatever else you think you will burn.

Greg, I spoke with Tom at 928 International yesterday. He refered me back to you in regard to the hose kit which you show in the subject thread. I left a message for you yesterday, hope to hear, when your time allows, regarding price and availability for the kit. I think I have a need for 2 of the kits, both for '84 YOM cars........

Herman, good to hear you will be in town, may try to head over toward Don's. Here is the hose and AN fittings that Greg showed in the thread linked to this thread, above. It allows the fitting of the hose with the tube in the car. Since it is "difficult" to remove the tube the Greg Brown alternative approach looks good to me....

Yes, I got the message. I'm going to need you to send me the old fittings that fit at the condenser. I can't get enough of those to make these hoses up, ahead of time....or if you want, have Tom dig me up a couple, from 928 International.
If you decide you don't want to weld, I also have a fittings that can be installed on the pipe with a "crushable ferrule". You might have to use some "sealant' on it to make the connection "Freon" tight.

Why use hydraulic hose and fittings, when o-ring union to beadlock hose adapters and barrier hose is readily available from A/C suppliers?

removed hose and tube from car in under an hour, will take it to an AC shop and have the hose replaced with Barrier. Discovered it it is the low pressure line that I had so much trouble with.....without rear AC the whole thing is just a bit difficult to remove. Sorry for all the time I have wasted for the respondants and thanks for the help....

Jim,
The A/C fittings, pipe, and hoses on the 928 are not metric, so the parts your seeing will be compatible.
A better place to get AC hardware info is to use one of the automotive AC forums.

If you want to restore your system with R12, you might want to get the EPA Section 609 certification online after taking the short online test ...

thanks to all, Greg, Tom, Borland, Herman........problem solved with a bit of time under the car and removing some hoses and the like....entire assembly came out with minimal hassle....putting it back? May require some strong beverages....but that will be later....
