You really need the 2.20 rear end for high speed work.....

George I have watched you struggle with mechanical issues and missed opportunities and often thought I would not have the fortitude you have shown in the struggle to reach your objectives. Your efforts have been herculian and an inspiration to those of us who desire to excell at anything.
This is an enormous accomplishment, and the admiration of this community well earned!!!

George,
Joe and I are glad your run went well. I congratulate you for being one of the very few who have broken 200 mph in a street car. To do it in a 928, is even better. Your hard work and persistence has paid off.
Hope to see you in September for the 25th anniversary of the Silver State Classic.

Thanks Charley and Jim. I appreciate your comments and your support.
Jim, I plan on being at the Silver State. You going to have the roll bar by then?
All,
I posted some photos from the event on my site if you are interested. I haven't done the
event page yet, so here is a link to the photo gallery:

Warning, not just 928 content...

Is that true across the board? More 928's than any other car?

I doubt more 928's then any other make/model. I don't have a list of all the
cars that have gone over 200 mph at an ORR event. But if I were to guess
about anything, I would guess that most were Chevy powered cars, Corvettes,
Camaros, Corvairs, etc.

George,
Congrats on the official 200MPH club! That's a pretty exclusive club. You deserve it!
BTW, just for fun I was thinking about your fuel economy. If my figures are right (50/50 chance):
With average economy of 8MPG:
At avg speed of 160MPH, your car was consuming 0.33 gallons of fuel every minute! At that pace it would only take 60 minutes to burn through the stock 23 gallons (I think you're running a fuel cell), but would have covered about 184 miles.
At 200 MPH, you'd be consuming 0.4 gallons every minute (but probably a lot more!), and would burn through the 23 gallons in just under an hour.
That's some cooking!

Good ??? The two fastest cars are NASCAR racers modified for ORR....I think some well known ORR guys ran corvettes or camaros that were seriously pumped up.....
When Marc and Susan went 209mph with MKM they drove TO AND FROM the event!!!!!!! I think George commutes too..... Tim and Cheryl trailered....but it is street legal and they could commute in it.....
So all 3 928's that went over 200mph either drove to-from the event or could with ease....

Charlie has build 3 of these, all with Chevy v8s and Porsche transaxles. I think he's managed to get 2 of them over 200 mph in ORR events.
There's a clip on YouTube that shows what happened to one of them:
Starting at 2:31 minutes into the clip.
