George:
I am really glad that all went well mechanically with this run. I did not want to post anything before the run as I have learned my lesson with things like this when I named Brian's race car the " Black Widow."
We all know how that ended.

Equally happy that you hit your mark of 200 mph. Did Bill co pilot?

Greg
Gee "thanks"....... But in all fairness it wasn't that bad of a car.... Sure I ended up losing my butt in terms of $$$$ but I did LOVE that car.....it was just SO bad A$$..... I consider it a life lesson and steep learning curve of my "racing" career

Congrats to George on finally hitting the mythical 200 mark!!!

Congrats on the finish George! I hope your radar comes back with a 200 mph. You deserve it.

Only those who try know how tough it really is. Fingers crossed

I got an update from Joe. He and Jim finished 1st in the 125 class, so a big congratulations to them.
I was 3rd in 160, out of 3 cars, that's not saying much other then we all finished (which is a big deal
in supersport). I was off by 5.4530 seconds (159.5703 mph), which meant I bled off to much time at
the end. I was up to 164 average at the speed trap. The winner of the 160 class, in a supercharged
NSX, finished with a margin of 0.0116 seconds or .00009 mph off target! Hope my navigator in Sept
can do as well

Here's a screen shot of the cockpit camera video from the speed trap:

And another from the finish line:

And a shot of the car in the finish pit area:

Thanks Greg. Bill decided not to navigate, but was a big help at the race and before. You still interested in the September event?

Thanks Tim. I don't know if the radars caught me at that speed as I was still
accelerating as I went by them. I was going to use the gravel pile 3 miles out from
the speed trap to start my run, since the signs usually blow down in the wind.
Turns out the gravel pile wasn't there, so I didn't start the run until less then
2 miles out. I was starting at 165+ mph, so I didn't get the room to get up to
full speed. As it was, I think I could have gotten a few more mph if I had more
room.

Congrats on hitting your goal!!!!! At least both GPS said it.....hopefully the radar confirms it!!!!!!

Now its time to let ORR go and start road racing with the rest of us norcal folks..... Much closer, 15+ events per year, much cheaper and you CAN race an automatic (which I prefer VERY much thank you)....

We might be able to get 6+ race 928's in Norcal!!! With your HP you would be in a higher GTS class...but you always could turn it down to make the class you want.....

He keeps time down to the .1 seconds on each part of the course, that way
you don't go too fast or slow at the end. Also will tell you about the course
details as you go alone, so you don't have to rely on your memory from last
year... The winner of the 160 class had a "hired gun" navigator, it worked
out well for him.

For me, it's too much work to try and drive, look at mile marks, work a stop
watch, and calculate the speed adjustments. So I just had 1 timed point with
a chart to give me a rough shot at getting average. I have to use the gps as
a speedometer, but also gives a very course average. Since winning the class
was a secondary concern to finishing, hitting 200+ mph, and calculating the
gas usage to see if I could go up in class. With the all the tuning, we have
improved the power, but also I was getting 8.18 mpg average on the 90 mile
course. A lot better then the 4.5 mpg from a few years ago...

Brian,

I did road racing before, on motorcycles, back when Sears Point was Sears Point and Riverside and Ontario had Speedways.
It was fun, but I'm just not feeling the urge to do it again.

Beats the old record by over 10mph.....damn that takes serious STONES.....and a serious car..... I'd guess hes got a monster big block in there (think 600+ci) and making stupid power...maybe 1500hp..... Do you know what his trap speed was.... its gotta be 240+ if he averaged 217....

Wow, great Jorj, Now there are 2 , Tim and YOu, I can hear the clanging of the brass from kansas...that is terrific effort. You had no navigator???that is even more difficult I would say....Jeez!

was sharktuning the only change you made to increase your gas mileage from 4 to 8 mpg...change the sc or head work? or is this the standard engine that came with your car with no cam or bottom end changes...wow!!!!
