I had the opportunity to look at this 85 Euro back in January. My comments and pics are here starting at post 55:

Basically, this could be a very nice Euro. However, the ad pics and price would suggest that it should be much nicer than it is in person. With some work, I think it could be brought up to a high level. For anyone interested, I would suggest a first hand look (cosmetic defects don't show well in the e-bay pics), drive, and PPI by a 928 guru. I wonder what the cause and fix was for the starting issues it was having the day I saw it.
EDIT: The e-bay listing is from Silverstone Motorcars, which is a consigner. Not sure if the car has changed hands since I saw it, or if the owner is just listing it with them.

I didn't mean to rattle your confidence! lol.
At one time I had similar trepidation about the Larz event. You needn't, I think you car would find a place among the upper percentile of 928s.
And, its been a few years since I've been able to attend, but the show-judging was an opt-in deal, to ensure cars of all calibers could participate for the social & learning aspects. I noticed zero snob factor among the 928 owners in the area they partitioned off for us, and very little from the rest of the attendees...perhaps due to the overwhelming ratio of 928 hooligans compared to the other bandcamps.
There is often a barbeque or food-outing afterward, too.

The Larz event is a fun get together. Most of the cars are drivers, not show cars. Lots of fun and good folks.

I did not. I think they want beaucoup dinero for this one. If you feel like dropping 20k on a Euro, check this one out: http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2993720812.html

No one seems to want to spend over $10K on a Euro. Asking twice that...

Hi Otto
HS, that '83 Euro is gorgeous. Thanks for posting that. It's amazing how many low mile cars you can find that are in great shape. If I didn't have a 928, I could imagine buying that one. Did all '83 Euros have the 4.7L motor? Excuse me, but I don't know so much about the early models. I'm having enough work getting the one I have sorted!!

Judging by the seats, engine compartment and a few other things there is no way that car only has 40,000 miles on it. Looks like a great car though, at maybe 10 or 11K.

1) The disease is so pervavsive "10K away from a 5K car" all decent 928's are undervalued compared to todays new cars and same vinatge 911's and ferrari's
2) Euro's prior to 84 had 4.7 with 10+ hp less and 40 TQ less and lots of other little things like ABS, synchro's ......................
3) Anyone who thinks a GTS is worth more than a Euro of equal condition is nutz. imo

I wouldn't be here if the cars were not pervasively undervalued. It still boggles my mind that I can get a nice 928 (IF I am in the right place and time) for less than 10K. That being said, pricing and value are funny things. People on this board have sharp eyes and the benefit of experience, but I get a chuckle sometimes when people dismiss a car as being worth a third of the asking price. I bet that assessment would go out the window if they were selling the same car.
Sometimes I wonder if the Rennlist community is running the asylum or we are just inmates. Are the dealers and sellers who follow prices in Excellence and NADA guides crazy or is it us? If I said I would pay 10 or 12 K for the blue 85 in a heartbeat, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone post that this would be overpaying.
As a buyer I might have to pay a little more than the Rennlist price to get what I want. I won't be stupid about it and I don't think anyone should. I do take comfort in having the option that all men have when it comes to what they paid for cars and women they have slept with - I can lie.

The best car up for sale in recent times was the 6K mile Black 86 time capsule from Penn and yet almost everyone **** on the price. It was well worth it. Any 911 or Testarossa or 328 with a similar story probably would have been double.
